STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION — Page 307

doubleofive, awsome work on your Revisited Visual Companion.  Second only to Adywan's text commentary track!

One small note, however.  The shot that shows the new Tie reveal says that it features "GC Tie's" rather than CG.

I never noticed that it was two driods in that shot until Adywan's edit. Begs to question was it so noticable? now an adience member asks, "Why is R2D2 red?"

Well, exactly.

Well, at the risk of being pedantic, that should be CG TIEs, no apostrophe.

well everyone i know, along with many members here and on other star wars sites,  could easily spot it was 2 different robots as R2 would've had to have gone to lightspeed to shoot from one side of the screen to the other so quickly. It was something that stuck out like a sore thumb to many people. It was one of the more well know continuity errors in the film.

I didn't see the problem in the red Artoo. As Ady stated only a non-fan would have a hard time understanding. Thank god GL wasn't a spoon feeder during the OT.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Agreed - I quoted doubleofive.  But I thought one nitpick was enough for one post :-)

How dare you sir! This is an outrage!

Kidding, of course.  I'm in the USA.

Whereabouts? I used to live in San Francisco. Going back there next year, and hopefully by buddy at ILM will get me in the back door! What a dream that would be.

Southwest US.  Specific enough for me.  And now back on-topic...thanks again for ANH:R Adywan!

Thanks indeed. I just showed it to a good mate of mine (also called Ady) and he just loved it. One or two niggles, naturally, but he loved it. He's always loved the cantina so the facial animations made him giggle like a girl.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I believe Adywan included the Emperor's theme (more specifically, "Palpatine's Teachings" from the ROTS soundtrack) in that scene because the Emperor and was mentioned.

Fair enough. Just to me (subjectively) the music is too scary and ominous for that scene.

But like it said, it's a minor quibble.

It's always interesting to see what different views everyone here has on different aspects.  Me, I love this particular music enhancement and the fact that the 'officer meeting' scene sounds SO ominous now, compared to before.  The Emperor's 'control of events' is all over this scene now.

And that shot altered to have R2 D2 in front with a RED R2 Unit is another favourite change of mine too!

On the other hand, I don't care for the Emperor theme in the briefing room. The Emperor isn't there. "Battle of the Heroes' plays when Obi and Darth do battle again. "Imperial March" plays when the Empire is shown to kick ass. Emperor's theme plays when... some dudes have a staff meeting. It just doesn't feel right to me.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I believe Adywan included the Emperor's theme (more specifically, "Palpatine's Teachings" from the ROTS soundtrack) in that scene because the Emperor and was mentioned.

actually its the emperors theme from either Jedi/TPM or maybe AOTC, because the ROTS empy theme has no choir, while the other 2 (or 3) have the choir, also its not "palpatines teachings" its "sidious revealed" from the TFU mixed with the official Soundtrack and other sources

I must be really clever to use music from a game that came out 5 months after i had finished the edit.:)

LOL did you make it to 88mph. I liked the music. If not saying it is palpys theme I think overall it can just be the theme of the dark side. The Imperial March is used in scenes that don't have vader so why not.

That little haunting piece at proceeds the Emperor's theme is what kinda hinted to me that "Palpatine's teachings" was used to the Death Star brief meeting scene in ANH:R.

I have the ROTS Soundtrack and compared it to the bit used when Vader chokes Motti, and it appears to be 'Palpatine's Teachings' :)

I just host it because it was my idea, but Ady did all of the comparisons and text.  Which is good, because I was trying to do it myself not having either movie on my computer, taking each disc out.  I got about 45 minutes into the movie when Ady said that he started doing it himself and had literally found hundreds of changes more than I had.  So I let the master do it himself. ;-)

The red R2... I like it.  It fixes a continuity error and, IMO, was so well done that as I was watching I actually had to stop and ask myself 'was that droid always there?' (and this from someone who's seen ANH well over 100 times).

As for the added music to the briefing room... love it.  In fact, I find it's the best addition out of all the added music (very subtle and, like ImpFighter said, makes the scene much more ominous).
