Hard drive back up question.

I have read on these boards by someone that talked about software to back up your drive, take an image of it,what is this software called?

I believe it was Adywan that I read this from but I could be wrong.

I was thinking once I have everything running just the way I want it,I would like to take an image for backup purposes.

Thanks

Acronis True Image will. I've used it for a while. Backs up the OS while it's running. It'll image the files, or sector-by-sector if you want. Or any of the usual options.

Most reasonably modern Seagate drives will let you run a (rebranded) free download, of it, from Seagate's site. (Just a straight download, no email-tag). Internal or external drives. Their version checks for one of the right drives, before it'll let you back up. Saves a few bucks. (I lost track of the link to the page that lists the drive families it works for).

Seagate Disc Wizard

I've used it to clone a backup onto a larger drive. And to restore a newer backup, of that drive - after a clot of 6 M$ security updates hosed XP.

One day I found... 10 years had got behind me. Next day was worse.

Download  shows from Cable DVR (Updated! Yes, it needs a rewrite, but it's worth slogging through, anyway).
