The flight path of Tantive IV has been moved down so the viewer can see it the whole time.  Also, this frame happened to have a bonus bolt!

Thanks for that quick work!  I'll never tire of that great shot enhancement by Adywan.

I never noticed that we were gypped out of that bolt on the SE version (no surprise there then...) although it's barely defined in the GOUT compared to Adywan's excellent colouring.

Crikey! There are loads of things on that list that I haven't noticed before, makes me want to watch it all over again.

Another impressively concise list there doubleofive.

Thanks Bingo.  I just went through the lists we already had and I have ANHR with the commentary track embedded on my iPod Touch that I watch when I'm bored.

Actually I wactched it again the other day, and there's something that could be called a mistake, or maybe jsut an inconsistency. When Vader and Obi-Wan meet on the Death Star in the original, Vader's saber is already lit up (which I liked, in that he really was waiting for him right there), in Revisited, it's not on, and he lights it up as he walks towards him. This is grand, but the noise his saber makes as it lights up is not the noise Vader's saber makes in ESB and ROTJ, it's the standard "woosh" of Luke and Obi-Wan's sabers, as opposed to the higher and sharper ESB/ROTJ one.

In the prequels, all the Jedi sabers use the "woosh" sound, all the Sith sabers use the Vader one. I guess this has offically been designated the "Jedi Lightsaber Sound" and "Sith Lightsaber Sound", but I, for one, don't welcome anything from the prequels, so that is moot to me. What isn't moot, is that Vader's sounds different in ESB and ROTJ, and since it was not seen lighting up in the original ANH, I'd call it a legitimate inconsistency.

Pointless complaining now of course, since Adywan is long finished on ANH:R, but it's one of the very few things that bugs me in the edit, so I thought I'd say it.

I'll have to listen again (more incentive).

True Ady wont be doing ANH:R:R but you can mention it on the previously mentioned After Ady thread.

I didn't know SW:R had a commentary. I suppose it is just on the duel layer disc?

It's a text commentary.  Dunno if it's on the single-layer.

Ah, a text commentary. Seems like that'd be pretty hard to read on an iTouch! Still cool, I didn't know about the text commentary, a spoken commentary would have been awesome though.

This is as close to Ady commentary as it gets thanks to Lady Ferry

It's a bit difficult to read:

I love the text commentary.  While an audio commentary would be awesome (I still want Ady to do an MP3 we can sync along with the DVD, shame he doesn't like the sound of his voice), the text commentary allows for simply pointing out changes as they happen.  When I showed it to my wife and her friend, I ended up doing an audio commentary of my own though! ;-)

I stumbled upon this a while back and loved it :)

Oh and I reckon Ady has a pretty good voice - it's a shame he didn't do a feature-length audio commentary.

Well, I also think it's a shame. Certainly because of the reason of Ady not liking his own voice. From what I've heard from that interview, I think nothing's wrong with his voice. I even think he has a great voice (if there is such a thing :p)

No, actually, everbody freaks out the first time when hearing his/her voice in a recording. Everybody hears his own voice differently from what it really sounds like due to the position of our ear and due to our ear being part of our own head it perceives sound made by our own body differently than sounds made by other objects or persons.

It's like you can hear yourself chew much louder than other people. It's kinda obvious, but it's still weird, though.

So, Ady, please, please do an audio commentary on Empire Revisited. Everbody in this board has already heard your voice on that interviw, anyway, and nobody's like: "Dude, that's a strange voice." Trust me, I know people who do have strange voices and that's a different story altogether... :p

Right now you're like those women who're afraid to get out to the public because they think they're ugly when the rest of the world doesn't. :p

Yeah Ady. Seeing as you edited the movie you would have something to say. Like when you get to a scene you had a rough time doing tell us about how much of a nightmare working on that scene was. As a movie watcher I enjoy hearing the commentary. I like hearing how they did this and that.

I like to listen to commentaries too. Irvin Kershner cracks me up, and Bay's comments on Transformers were actually very enlightening.

I think my favorite commentary track has to be from Pain of Salvation: BE (live). The secret "real" commentary where they talk complete nonsense, like the box under the floorboards containing the organic matter that powers the keyboards.

For any person with a healthy love for cinema, hearing the director of one of your favorite movies explain how he did makes the movie even more entertaining and lets you gain appreciation for what he did.

Since the people who download your fanedit are usually people who care about movies, I too think that a commentary would be very very much appreciated!!

And Kershner was indeed a genius. It's a shame that the other movies he made (except for Empire) don't seem to reflect this. (Poor material to work with, perhaps?) Or did I just miss out on other masterpieces the guy fathered?

Could someone possibly PM me an invitation to Demonoid? I have looked on my news group (giganews). The pal version is availalbe but not the NTSC. I found the DVD 5 on piratebay, but if possible I would like to get the DVD 9 (less compression). Thanks for your assistance. And thanks to Adywan for the work you've put into this!

I know there is no plans to touch the 1080p material at present; I was wondering if there is a chance in the future that Adywan will be working on this. I know when Lucas finally releases the Blu-ray versions, they will be a repackage of a repackage... like every other Lucas release (no offense to any Lucas employees). I've shelled out my money over the years for Star Wars releases... so I think I can say I hate the thought of paying for a 1080p version with little to no effort put into the work.

Thanks again!

Oh, they'll put effort into the work, krazyscotsman, it just might not turn out how you would like it to. And don't we all know that feeling!

krazyscotsman - you need the NTSC DVD9?  PM me.

The NTSC DVD 9 is available from fanedit.info via rapidshare.  Look under the SE tab for ANHR.

Hi,

Well everything has already been said about this great edit so I won't bother going on too much about it, just brilliant work!  I never imagined that these types of changes were possible, and now I wonder why ILM hasn't done them already!!!

The DVD-9 is amazing, even the menus are gorgeous!  Is it me or is the opening logo of Star Wars (with the IV underneath) on the menu slightly squashed??

The only thing missing is an audio commentary!!!  Come on Addy... do a new release with it!!!  Please!!!  The text track is great but an audio one would be better.  The commentary on the Phantom Editors DVD's were great and from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSmjxa-5ujc Addy has a great voice and can talk for hours about the details that all us geeks would love to hear about!!

DO IT! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TOO!

Thanks again for all your hard work dude!

Maybe next year, after ESB:R is finished, i may do a V2 of ANH:R with a few very minor changes with a commentary track.

I'll do it:

SQUEEEEE!
