FanFiltration's: Chronological Godfather (An Epic Edit) is 5 DVDs long {including my fan re-edit of part III} and I could not get it to seed up on torrents. We are now making a Divix version for faster download and project file size reasons. Don't give up hope on this edit. We have 4 projects in the works at the moment, and we want them all to be top notch productions.

A new restoration of parts I and II has been finished by Robert A. Harris for Paramount (with financial help from Steven Spielberg): http://hollywood-elsewhere.com/archives/2007/08/godfather_resto.php

Perhaps they'll have all the extra footage cleaned up while they're at it.

FanFiltration, is there any way to get hold of your 5 DVD edit? I'll happily send you blanks and cover the postage costs.

i'll third (fourth, fifth, whatever) the motion for the dvdrs...even though it would be a huge download, i know that the collectors out there would snatch it up in a second. hell, i'm downloading an 18 disc set of beavis and butthead... i would definately spend the time to download this!

What an AMAZING job you have done with this. My dad and 3 brothers are all die hard Godfather fans. Despite us owning the DVD set (and VHS before that) we still TiVo it on live TV when they play the extended version. It sounds like you have really put a lot of time in effort into making the best possible GF experience, and I would really love to view this "epic edit".

Please inform me on how. I can supply the DVDR's and proof of Godfather ownership.

I have the VHS of the godfather saga, and the official dvd set. I'm more than happy to prove ownership in both formats and supply you with blank dvds if you'd be willing to burn the 5 disc "epic edit". PLEASE let me know if this is possible.
Thanks.

Myself & my sis-in-law are huge Godfather fans. We discuss it ad nauseum and her hubby is clueless as to why we are so obsessed. LOL

I would love to give her your fan compilation as a birthday present.

How can I get it?

Thanx

I was watching my copy of the saga that was aired on bravo about a year ago, and i was really disappointed with the advertisments and banners in the picture, and especially with alot of the cuts....

is this project going to be released? if not, i am going to try and do my own edit, but all i have is the dvd set and a set of vhs tapes i got off ebay that was supposed to be the chronological trilogy, but when i popped the tapes in it was just the regular movie it seemed (it is a 6 vhs set, each movie looks to take up 2 tapes and it comes in a gold box)... anyway, if this project is never to be released, i would like to go ahead with my first edit, if only for my own personal enjoyment

I know... We all REALLY want to see this puppy! Let us know the status. Any one of us would be more than happy to send blank DVD-Rs or even settle on a price for your time, effort, and personal expense. I'm not a very advanced computer user so I can't do my own edit, and thus I must rely on the kindness of strangers. I'd love the chance to appreciate your work as well as all those involved in creating the film. Thanks.

I would post it on rapidshare.com if I had the extra cash, but I'm disabled and having problems getting assistance.

i am currently downloading a copy of 1 & 2 that has been chronologically edited together by a fan. who that fan is, i have no clue as i found the torrent through a search engine and it had no info, the title card just reads "The Godfather 1 & 2" in that notoriously awful godfather font thats floating around... i've been downloading this for about a week and i'm at 99.2%, just waiting for the seeder to jump back on so i can finish up... i'm really lazy thats why i'm hoping this fulfills my need for this flick, because i dont even know where to begin when it comes to editing the piece myself (although i still plan on doing it, i just want my fix)

if anyone is interested, i can either put the avi's back up on a torrent site or possibly post them to a newsgroup...

Were you able to finish the download and was it the chronological edit? I've been looking everywhere for a torrent and can't find anything. I'd love to get the Fanfiltration edit but i'll settle for anything at this point.

Any sort of update on this? I'd love to get a hold of this version. I'm currently watching a recording of the "Novel for Television" version I made off of Bravo. But those damn ads are killing me. It's certainly a project that deserves preservation.

I would be sweet if there was an edit of the newly remastered part I&II cut together cronology.

I haven't seen any of the extra scenes added to the TV-series and VHS and LDs but I've never read that any of those were essentials.

I've been hunting after this version for years, with no luck. Does anyone out there have this???

After reviewing what we have, we have decided to re-capture the entire video portion of the Chronological Godfather project using much better techniques. At the time of it original creation, I had just started in the Laser-disc to computer hobby, and had only very basic capture encoders and codecs, and such. The project was saved at a very low bit rate, and it looks horrible.

That being said, I have decided to invest in a new L.D. player of the best quality I can obtain, as my old one did not survive my last move.

I'll keep you all updated on this in the forums...

Re-capture has started.

This morning I got my hands on another Pioneer CLD-D504 LD player at a decent low price. It's the best I can do on my budget, but at least it has an S-video out...

Capturing The Godfather Trilogy 1901 -1980 set and The Godfather Collector's Edition Set via Adobe Premiere (using Mainconcept DV codec).

So this project is a mix of these two laser disc sets. You get all the extra scenes and the chronological story presentation from the Trilogy 1901-1980 (released on Laserdisc in 1992) set, and the "R" rated violence from the Collector's Edition set (released on Laserdisc in 1991).

If anyone has any comments or suggestions for this edit, please feel free to post here.
