So Lucas needs to rescan the prints for a blu-ray release?

Why did Lucas only scan the prints at 1080p for the HD broadcasts and 04 DVDs? Why didn't he just scan them at 4-8k for archiving and be done with it?

I wonder if he is still debating whether he wants to give the fans what they want or not, that's why he is procrastinating on the issue?

Then perhaps you should have continued the discussion there instead of creating your own thread.

Don't assume that people are going to read every thread on this forum.

The actual original camera negatives - the ones LFL had restored photochemically and then permanently altered for the 1997 SE - are what were scanned and digitally restored back in '04. The OOT hasn't been scanned at all since 1993, which is why that's what we got in '06: a laserdisc transfer.

Just in case my previous post didn't come off tongue and cheek enough, I have to completely agree with DFNYC, Janskeet. Your thread had no context to it, so it should be no surprise that none of us knew what you were talking about.

DFNYC is right that you cannot assume that every member keeps up with every active thread. It is not a bad idea to make a new thread to talk about something touched on in another thread, so as to avoid hijacking the original thread. A good way to overcome the issue of context, is to take a few quotes from the original thread to set the context.
