Ah, so your problem wasn't actually with Twin Snakes, but with MGS itself. First time I played MGS I kept dying too. Frustrating as hell, wanted to take the game out and break it. MGS definitely has a learning curve to it, but once you get going, it gets a lot easier (still challenging enough, but your not dying ever two seconds like a lot of people do during the first bit of the game) and it is downright amazing. I am sorry you didn't stick with it, once you get inside the base and get a hold of some gear, it is a lot of fun.
