Remakes have always been central to Hollywood.

The Wizard of Oz is a remake.

Gaslight is a remake.

The Maltese Falcon is a SECOND remake.

IMHO, remakes need to do one of three things.

1- Have something new to say or a fresh way to present the original theme.

2- Be a better adaptaion of great source material.

3- Be faithful to the original film, but update the presentaion to modern standards.
