Han is a guy who feels pain more from the inside - and some people on here may hate me for bringing up an EU anecdote, but when Han was mad at his son Jacen, he was just kind of bitter afterwards - ok, it's not the best of analogies because that wasn't physical torture, but it's an analogy nevertheless because he was in emotional distress from it anyway.
