Do you mean of Rebellion starfighters in their prime?
Do you mean of Rebellion starfighters in their prime?
Yes. Brand new sleak star fighters. I have a car my parents bought 15 years ago that I remember being so nice and shiney. Now it is a rust bucket that makes noises. That rust bucket are the fighters of the OT. we can make them look like a new car LOL.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Well, the panelled Y-wing would be a good start, especially seeing as there are plenty of pictures to go off.
Just as a side note, I'd like to draw attention to this:

Despite what GL says, I think that it would be good to see Boba participating in the Great Jedi Purge towards the end of ROTS.
Meh
Putting fancier OT ships in the prequels sounds like fanboy fapmaterial to me.

And yet it makes perfect sense to me LOL

How many new cars do you see lower class citizens driving compared to how many older used cars they drive. The rebels could be compared to lower class citizens. The higher class citizens (compare to imperials) are driving new cars. It as Bar Bar Jinx stated makes perfect sense. The rebels couldn't afford new ships. The Imperials could. Fanboy fap material or not it makes more sense than what geoge lucas gave us in the prequels.

To me it makes more sense that every planet has its own style and its own ships.
I don't see why the rebels would be using old Naboo fighters.
When I see an X-Wing I see an old used fighter, I don't need to know where it came from, I don't need to think "hey, maybe this is the one I saw in the prequels".
Surely the rebels could've gotten their ships from a part of the universe we haven't seen in the prequels?
the only reason id like to see OT craft in PT, is that the OT had a much more consistent array of spaceships, and id like to see that in the PT. i dont want two trilogies personally, but a six film epic with two acts.
Well look at it this way, It is an idea. An idea does not mean that all fan edits will have that idea set in stone. Like Ady is going to kill Lando in ROTJ:R alot of people were against the idea including myself but after all it is Ady's re-imagining of the star wars saga and nothing we say is going to change it. A fan edit is usually what the fan editor wants. I for one don't have the time to make a fan edit so I am sticking to suggestions. Any suggestion is encouraged. Who knows what the ships will look like in Adywan's edit? Whatever he decides to do I will respect his decision because he and all fan editors take the time out of their busy lives to work on projects of such scale. I have attempted a fan edit but I do not have the patience and the tenacity for such work, so I scrapped all work LOL. Maybe somebody will see one of these suggestions and decide "Hey that is a good idea, I might try that." But don't take a suggestion as written law for all fan edits. Plus this is 'The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread', so no idea is a bad idea.

if OT ships are to make an appearance, or have references in the PT, it would be cool if the seperatists could be further portrayed as proto-rebels by having rebel-esque ships too. the droid fighters were blatantly based on ties, and the republic fighters in ROTS were obvioulsy six winged x-wings. id like the narrative of the PT to hint that the seperatists were percieved to be wrong but were vindicated by the emergence of the empire.
Really what I would love to see changed is this
It doesnt fit in with any of the other ships

the link ^ has links to other ships that can help gather ideas for designs

Qui-Gon with a yellow saber. What do you think?
I think a yellow saber in a yellow enviroment dont fit :)
Think again. Qui gon in trade fed battleship at endor erm naboo, tattoine and with maul.
you should take these enviroments that have diferent colors to see how it looks :)
Yellow-Bluegray, Yellow-green, yellow-yellow orange, yellow with yelow gray. Yellow with red ray shield doors.
Tests!
EDIT: use snapshots not still images. They capture the movie feeling much better :)

The trouble is finding shots without saber effects, so that I can get the effects right, without worrying about the glow from the original effect.
The Naboo Starfighter matches the technological stylings of all the other Naboo ships and speeders so I don't have a serious problem with them, though I might take down the colour a little (and have different colours for different squadrons, as I suggested earlier).
If they were in line with the same sort of colours as the astromech droids that would be fine.
But I'm fully behind the idea of slick Y-Wings, X-Wings etc being Republic ships it makes sense that the Rebels in the OT are trying to maintain and enhance old ships rather than building new ones.
It would also make sense to have some of the Rebel ships on the Separatists side too.

remove the green color before you apply the yellow :)

With the N-1 Naboo Starfighter i think they just need less colour, this is my attempt of toning down the colour. Still yellow just not bright yellow, i think simple little thing is vast improvement.
now that looks pretty cool. Add some decals/stripes and it will be even more OT esque.

givin it a go atm, tryin to go for a x-wing kinda look.....kinda :S lmao
right i gave it a quick go, tryin to put the colours and stripes etc with the design of the starfighter to avoid it lookin too much in your face and that was the point of takin the colour down.
That's amazing, well done. If that could be put over N-1 starfighters I'd have no problem with them. Presumably the red could be blue, green, etc. to allow for different squadrons.
