God, this thread has turned into a mad house.

Ok, first things first. The cut-off period for your names in the credits was 12AM GMT today. I've added a note to the first page about this. I have had enough of people either PMing or emailing me saying things like " If i post in your thread does will my name be in the credits"  or " can i please have my name in the credits". Now these aren't even from members here at OT.com but from people that are just going to join to get their name in the credits. This isn''t going to happen. Anyone that joins now and posts will NOT be getting their name in the credits. I had to have a cut off point because the credits could become longer than the movie at this rate with things like this happening.

ok now that's out the way....

Asteroid-Man, loving the covers. A small critique though. The text on the back has very jagged edges. Did you copy and past this from the official DVD's and use some form of cut-out tool or apply a blending mode? I would suggest creating new text from scratch as this is the only thing letting these covers down.

i don't know why there has been so much negativity about the bar code on the back. i can take or leave bar codes on custom covers, it really doesn't bother me. Official DVDs have the bar codes so why not custom one. It does make them a little more authentic.

Now one thing i WONT tolerate in this thread is people slating someone who is genuinely trying to contribute something.  It really annoys me when people display a superiority complex. Just remember this .. there is always someone out there better than you. Constructive criticism is always welcome but down right rudeness WILL NOT!.Now i know that the recent negativity was all a misunderstanding directed at the wrong person but this is al something to think about for the future

Now there are some (and i'm not going to mention any names but you know who you are) that just seem to post without bothering listening to any help or suggestions that other are providing and it turns out to be the same garbage over and over again. Hell, even janskeet has begun to listen to what we have been saying to him and is off my ignore danger list. lol

Everyone has to start somewhere. Don't forget that when i started ANH:R i had never done any form of Fx work and had never touched After Effects. It's all a learning curve and i received a lot of negativity when i started , but i just brushed that aside because i have received that type of crap all my life. But not everyone is like that and when they get bashed for genuinely trying to do some thing they would just give up. I say don't. I say forget what others say unless its constructive criticism

EyeShotFirst, i like your poster. Yes, it does need some work, but the layout and idea is very good. A few suggestions...  I would definitely do something about Yodas hair. he looks like he's suffering from a bit of static there. lol. also use some feathering on the clouds to help the characters look like they are behind the clouds. Shrink R2 & 3PO a little and bring cloud city over so it isn't cut off one one side. I'm not sure if the moon really works. i think it would look better if it wasn't there. When constructing things like this you don't have to fill every bit of space on the page. Try it without anything where the moon is and cropping the top down a little.

Custom covers and posters are welcome in this thread as long as it is directly related to ESB:R.

Now can we please return this thread to some form of normality.

Back to what this thread is supposed to be about.

Interesting enough Ady, you didnt mention the jump cut when the gun of falcon pops down when it turns and ofc the Obvious jump cut when the gun hits/explodes the snowtroopers...

By the way any change to open a bit the landscape of the dagobah? I know you like the close feel it has and i agree with you. Just only to eliminate the stage look and look more alien and natural in the long shots. Only subtle things( remember my mockups if you wish)

-Angel

Actually there is no jump cut when the gun appears. What's happened is that they speeded up the film to make the gun come out faster. I have checked this shot frame by frame and there are no missing frames. What looks unnatural to the eye is that because the shot was originally slower there is no motion blur on the gun when there should be.

Now the jump cut when the gun hits the troopers and the gun explodes is another matter. I'm not sure how the hell i can fix this because there are too many missing frames to be able to reconstruct them. I've been trying out a few tests for this shot and t just isn't working at the moment. It might end up being a smooth out rather than a general fix.

And dagobah, i prefer it the way it is. i don't feel that the landscape needs to be opened up at all as the enclosed look gives the planet a bit of eeriness and mystery.

Something to mention in adding to the list:

When Chewie goes to see where is C3po after he blasted, we see to brake the step,

-Angel

Actually the step isn't breaking at all. I've been studying this and its just a shadow. If you look at the shot of chewie walking up the steps you'll see the shadowing is exactly the same.

So no need for a fix here.

I would just like to bring this one back up.

Ady, will you be adding any saber marks for this shot? I figure since Luke swings across the surface, rather than stabbing the door lock, that it seems logical to see where Luke's saber touched the surface. Thoughts?

Luke had cut the latch and there is no real place to add any burn marks. i may add a faint heat glow on each section of the latch but that's about it

thanks for the link Killbot but i refuse to pay that site for their pictures when they are uploaded by other members, many stole from other sites.

Is anyone else feels that vader's saber should look more like in the second pic i posted? Just gathering thoughts.

It looks like more a cod rotoscope (thin) and not as a saber. maybe with that way it looks more like mace's saber attacking palps.

-Angel

no, i prefer the rounded end of the OT sabers. I hate the PT sabers. They'll all be changed in the PT:R

That new shot of GL really annoys me. There is not 1 physical model in that shot. Its all GC and it really does show how artificial the models can look. The argument about more models were used in the PT than the OT is total rubbish too and just some garbage that PT lovers try to use to defend the prequels. Models were used for the ships in the OT and full physical sets were built . The Pt was a lot of greescreen sets for which they build model sets or CG sets. Only TPM used any form of physical models for ships. AOTC & ROTS all the ships are CG.

no updates on the progress i'm afraid. there are a few things going on in my life at the moment, and my health isn't too good either, that is preventing me from starting on the models. Hopefully it won't be long before i can start though.
