He's actually been able to fly since the end of the 4th season (I think that's right, it was in the finale), he just didn't know he could. Since then, he flew again, but again didn't know it. He did finally do a giant leap to the top of a building, which is similar to how the original Superman learned to fly (long jumps).

It's getting thin. Chloe and Lois is it I think. They just killed another major character. They're actually getting off course of the legacy, but they didn't have much choice once Rosenbaum (Lex) left the show. They're starting to do more of the JLA and LOD type stories, but before they were really stable groups (ie Green Arrow and the Flash show up from time to time as does a group of evil villains).

Not even sure how the show is still called Smallville, since he was in high school during season one, unless he keeps getting held back a grade, he should have graduated long ago and left Smallville. Maybe this is an alternative reality where Clark Kent is really lazy and continues to live in his parents barn until he is thirty and mope about Launa.

He goes back to the family farm from time to time, but most of his time is spent in Metropolis.
