I STILL can't make up my darn mind on which to do next LOL,I am leaning towards Sheena, but The Legend of Billie Jean would also be a damn good AVCHD DVD as well.

also just got the Discs from The Griff Saturday so Thanks a bunch Griff, you are 1 helluva a friend,so E.T. might be a good one to.

So is the version of ET you sent 720p or the Original Theatrical version in 1080i?

Its the original version in 1080i. The 20th anniversary version is for chumps!

I've already synced the DTS track from the DVD to it but I suspect it goes out of sync by a few frames later in the movie (around when the government agents are occupying the house). Not sure of the cause of this as my skills are somewhat limited. Hopefully you can correct it.

fincher's "the game" could be a good project. using the hddvd source + 5.1 and DFNYC's criterion collection commentary

also, were you going to do an AVCHD of the southland tales cannes cut? just curious.

Considering Bille Jean still has no proper release of any kind and the fact that the movie has always rocked (with a huge following), it would make an excellent choice to go with next----

OK not sure if anyone is interested or not,but here are a couple samples from Legend of Billie Jean and Sheena,it is funny how the HD quality changes from some scenes to worse than others, but neither one of these had the "greatest" HD quality anyways, but I am a fan of both so I am doing these both up,as always comments and suggestions are MORE than welcome, keep in mind I am still learning this type of project myself.

well here they are:

Billie Jean looked decent.

I saw some very minor artifacts during the first shot with the plants in front of the water. Also it looked like some kind of noise was going on in the overhead shot when Binx and Billie are laying on the dock. I could not tell if it was water on the dock or if they dock had noise present (using a pc to view)?

Movement seemed fine, the colors were a little dull but not terrible

other than that in overall quality it at least looks better than our old vhs prints. The source that was used originally probably was not remastered before airing. Regardless would love to get a hold of it in whatever format once it is done

If I knew how to color correct I surely would give it a shot,do you have any suggestions,I know Ady knows how but not sure if I should trouble him with that.

1 more thing,if the AVCHD does not look like it is worth it,I do have the HD2DVD I did of this a long time ago,and complete with cassidy's great artwork even.

All that really needs to be done is some minor boost in saturation and leveling out (adjusting) with the brightness and contrast. The pic below shows a comparision of the levels adjusted with your original on the bottom

in all honestly your original is still fine by me, and I do want to work out something to get a hold of your hd2dvd edition (send me a PM), but for the higher up format you are going for and to make it look as good as possible you would need to re-encode the clip with the color adjustments before converting to an AVCHD

Did you use avisynth for this, and if so what lines did you use,I use avisynth for almost everything I do now.

No. I took a snapshot but the same rules would apply. I never use avisynth (unless it is part of a program like favc or dvdrebuilder). In your clip's case I would have to reconvert it to an avi or mpeg2 first and then apply the color settings while encoding (tmpg 2.56) it once more

I used the snapshot for an example

I am not sure what programs you have and what you are using and what format your clip was before avchd.

I know enough scripts exist for avisynth that one must let you tinker with the simple saturation, brightness and contrast. Though I am not sure if it would show you  examples of your settings before encoding (gui maybe?)

I have been doing some reading and the avisynth plugin Tweak will do this,I just have to mess with it and get what looks good.

use my pic above as a help guide if you need it. If you match it close to that. the rest of the pic should be ok

OK here is sample V2,and I may even try 1 more thing before I make my final encode(so tranzor I hope you are not getting sick of downloading these LOL,you seem to be the only interested party),if it looks good I am going to re-do my HD2DVD version as well, here are my avisynth settings:

Tweak(sat=2.00, hue=18.5, bright=-45, cont=1.6)

if you have any suggestions please let them fly.

here is sample V2 link:

this clip looks much better and you can see the image is now brought "more to life". However this also exposes the amount of artifact noise present.

I was really able to see this on the ferns in the beginning and the over head dock shot that I thought was possibly water on the dock was actually noise. The side shot of Binx and Billie lying sideways on the dock are both covered with noise that looks more like invisible worms

I do get HD stuff not being broadcast well or with limits (my IFC channel looks like downloaded block ridden divx crap), but if you ran a noise filter on it this might help it out quite a bit, though you may loose a little bit of the sharpness detail

I would still be interested in the hd2dvd (previous or newer edition) however
