Might be a codec issue then; are you using the regular XviD codec? I'm using the bundled Perian version, so that may explain the difference in file reading.

It looks like your "mplayer" is even reporting the correct file info....must be a problem with the linux version of mplayer.

There's nothing wrong with mplayer (ffmpeg). And yes, it should be 2.35:1, that's the whole problem.

The header claims that the video is 16:9 (1.78:1), but it's not.

Gstreamer also respects the header btw. It's not very hard to just force it to use the correct a/r, but yeah, it'd be nice if the headers were correct ;-)

In regards to this aspect ratio issue:

Most of Ady's clips I have display in the wrong aspect ratio in QuckTime Pro (newest version on a Mac), but they all play fine in VLC.  I actually re-encoded the trailer to play at the right aspect ratio in QuickTime because while VLC player will play freakin' everything, I still don't like using it.

I'm not sure what causes this.

I just run "mencoder -ovc copy -oac copy -o output.avi input.avi", which takes about 5 seconds, and that fixes it.

The files are usually a good few kilobytes smaller as well, there must be a lot of unnecessary (and likely wrong) info in there.

Brilliant job, Adywan! The colours are vibrant, everything resounds with crystal clarity, and every updated element is a major improvement. Absolutely no negative reactions here; everything's awesome. As stoked for this release as I already was, you somehow managed to crank to excitement factor up another tenfold. Kudos, sir. You are truly a pinnacle in this fanbase.

And 005, many thanks for your comparison slideshow. It was quite helpful in pointing out some of the minor details that I otherwise would've missed. :)

Can't wait for 2010!

Heck, I showed it to Ady and he missed stuff!  Angel pointed out the hint of a window in Leia's shot as she's shooting the Stormtrooper, so I added it just before it went live.

Also, I didn't know where to put it, but Ady has made Ian McDiarmond say "Yes" twice before he says "he would be a great asset" instead of the one he does on the DVD.

I'll just say "No problem" for everyone.  I love playing detective, and finding the right frames and what had been changed was fun!  Glad I had the extra time to do it though, it did take a while.

Here is a slight tweak. Just light in lukes eyes makes it more convincing. I don't know how it looks on a brighter moniter but it looks pretty good on my computer. What i did was added slight lens flare in lukes eyes. then cut luke from tweaked image and popped him into the original picture.

Only just had a chance to watch the trailer....

 

-  WOW!!! Like all others I must say that its amazing.

The Cloud City reveal really made my jaw drop, I felt like a kid again watching this.

Thanks for effort but IMO its just too much...remember, less is more.
