The cloud city shot is just ... well magnificent!!! I to saw the glow from the lighsabers on Luke's face, but it is really faint. Looks good though! Tauntaun movement looks much more natural now.

The trailer is put together in a way that we can see some changes, but it still leaves a lot for the final release. I like that. I want to be surprised. 2010 seems ages away...but good things come to those who wait :)

HOLY FLERKIN' SHNIT!!!!

The sun beaming from behind the city as the camera flew through the clouds had my jaw crack a hole in the floor!!!

the whole thing looks amazing & has reinvigorated my love for this movie

but there is one thing that stands out to me & unfortunatly it is something that I do not think that can be fixed

the glow of the sabers should be visible in his eyes

Adywan, did you rip this footage from ROTS?

I suppose that vader is from ROTS. The other plate is a mirrored shot when the MF flyby from Needa's bridge.

ChainsawAsh: Yeah most likely i messed up the layers... :P

Hey Ady. Thanks for the trailer, its great!

But  on a technical note: The aspect ratio information in the video seems to be wrong. Playing the file in mplayer it reports:

Movie-Aspect is 1.78:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect.

Of course this results in a stretched image when playing.

Only adding a "-aspect 2.35:1" manually allows playback of the video in the right ratio.

I dont know if this happens with other media players too (Propably not, they may take their ratio information only from the resolution, wich of course already is 2.35:1), but there is definetly something to fix right here:

======= Video Properties Header =======
Format: 0 VideoStandard: 0
VRefresh: 24 HTotal: 1280 VTotal: 544
FrameAspect: 16:9 Framewidth: 1280 Frameheight: 544

  == Field 0 description ==
  CompressedBMHeight: 544 CompressedBMWidth: 1280
  ValidBMHeight: 544 ValidBMWidth: 1280
  ValidBMXOffset: 0 ValidBMYOffset: 0

Works fine in VLC and QuickTime. Probably an mplayer problem.

As i said, it may well be that it works in other players because they ignore or dont respect the Video Properties Header*, but the wrong information is there.

*I dont even know what kind of header this is. I've checked some other video files and all that i checked dont have this header. Maybe its frome one of Ady's editing software steps. Google doesnt help much either.

Media Player is so crappy that is why I uninstalled it. VLC is an amazing program the only crappy thing is that it doesnt capture screens in a larger size.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I dont want to drift too far off topic here, just to clear things up:

mplayer is NOT "Windows Media Player". mplayer is the (arguably) most widely used media player on Unix based systems... and of course it's the best there is ;)

Works fine on Xbox 360 too :)

How large are you talking - i have no problem taking snapshots in HD.

A late Happy Birthday to you, Adywan!

In which currency would you like donations?

Great trailer! I seem to have missed the discussion of why the cityscape seen at the end of the corridor (when Luke had just landed on Cloud City) needed to be changed.

Is it just me, or ... does that Imperial Tech in the middle look a lot like Zachary Quinto? Coincidence?

I am talking at least 1024 X 768. It only gives me like 7** x 3**

They said that in the new star trek movie there is an R2 unit in it.

You spot the Spock in the Star wars:)

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but isn't 1280x544 2.35:1? Sure looks that way to me.

It looks like your "mplayer" is even reporting the correct file info....must be a problem with the linux version of mplayer.

Actually, the latest version of Quicktime also respects the file's Video Properties Header so also displays the trailer in 16:9 ratio, giving a squished image. Easy to fix if you have the Pro version of Quicktime (just change the video track's Visual Settings and save the file), if not then just use another player.

Not sure why VLC ignores the instruction, bug maybe, or just a missing feature.

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!
