the only problem would be the rain

True (about the rain bit); even if you just show Jango in the shadows to show that he is present would work a bit better - say place him in the foreground in the factory establishing shot; hell, you could take the Boba in the cockpit shot from EMPIRE when the Falcon flies away from the SD junk and show him from behind as he watches the fight from a distance.  It just seems wierd that he flies in after Anakin finishes his Crash Bandicoot level.

And would it be sentimental to change his line from "stop right there, Jedi" to "stop right there, friend" ala the Holiday Special cartoon (a character trait Boba may have inherited from his father)?

For some reason, that just had me think of the "Canada goes on Strike" episode from SOUTH PARK:
"I'm not your buddy, guy!"
"Well I'm not your guy, friend!"
"Well I'm not your friend, buddy!"
"Well I'm not your buddy, guy!"...

The goal with the factory is be to make it look less like a Mario Bros game, indeed.

Worst scene in a Star Wars movie along with the "forbiden love by the fire" one. And they are both in the same episode...

About Jango. Maybe we could use him in the dark corridor before the factory scene. He would appears behind Anakin and Padme (flipped shot and some rotoscoping effect. Don't know about the perspective though, I need to check that) and next scene we see them in front of Dooku in the deleted scene.

i guess if we could have him follow the naboo ship as it lands perhaps. i like the idea of him silently watching.

i would love to change all the scenes with jango so he is wearing his helmet in all of them i would love even more to somehow change the colours to those of the holiday special.

Great ideas for the droidfactory scene, guys!

Personally, I like the scene, but it's not perfect. I see why Lucas added it (for pacing issues), but the problem with the scene is that it doesn't serve any purpose: it's an action scene for the sake of having an action scene. It doesn't go anywhere. It doesn't add to the characters, nor to the story.

Adding Jango could be cool, but I wonder what it would add. I'd rather see an extra scene with him and Obi-Wan. Better yet, have Obi-Wan kill him in the arena. Their "competition" never got a good pay off: we see them size each other up in conversation first, then they fight, which ends in a draw and then...nothing. I understand Lucas wanted to give Mace something to do, but I think it would have been better for that particular arc if Obi-Wan had killed him.

Anyway, if we're going to add Jango in the droidfactory, maybe we could use footage from the Bounty Hunter game for long distance shots. I like this trailer of the game too. Not sure if it's useful, but it's still cool :P

Better yet, don't kill off "Jango" at all, instead cut out the kid and refer to him as "Boba".

 That would be cool.

When I told about putting Jango in the dark corridor before the factory scene, I tought more about showing him coming from the left side with his gun pointed at Anakin and Padme (and cut off the geonosians coming out of the walls). Like: Anakin "I sens something". Jango appears "Now you'll follow me, Jedi scum!" (or something like that). Then a wipe to the deleted scene with Padme, Anakin and Dooku.

Making Jango Boba could work too. I don't really mind young Boba though. I think Lucas showed just enough of him for us to figure out what will happen with him (the shot of him picking up his father's helmet at the end of the arena battle says it all) without showing everything. It's also a nice little touch we now know what Boba looks like under the helmet in the OT, without having to see it. We know he is a clone, and with seeing Jango, we'll have a good idea of what Boba looks like in the OT.

As for Jango arresting Anakin and Padme, and omitting the droidfactory sounds like a good idea too. Personally, I like the droidfactory scene, but I think we can't have both the droidfactory and Padme's conversation with Dooku. It would destroy the momentum of the movie.

I think both scenes are good and I could go with any of them, but personally, I like the droidfactory a little better. It's fun, but also helps the pacing of the movie in the end a lot.

But the scene with Dooku and Padme is still pretty good: there are some great lines in there, it's nice to see a bit more of Dooku, and finally see the two opposing sides in the war sitting down and talking face to face. I don't think that happens anywhere else in the PT.

A question from Darth Piccolo from the EP V Revisited thread asked if the Star Destroyers' lasers in Episode 2 and 3 be changed to green. (They fire in 2 don't they? Idk I haven't seen it in a long time) But I know they shoot blue in ROTS so in another way to tie the trilogies together changing the lasers from blue to green would be great, I think. Plus the green looks better anyways in my opinion

Maybe instead of a bounty hunter, Jango is a senator's personal guard or someone higher up on the totem pole so to speak (also, the clone army could be clones of other soldiers and Jango is there to guard the secret).  Besides, I kinda figured young Boba had a hard life as an orphan and bounty hunting was just a means to a wealthy ends.  Hell, in the BUILDING EMPIRE doc, Irwin Kirshner describes Boba as his version of Clint's "Man with no name" character.

- okay, I just read the above post: I like the idea of just nixing "Jango" and making the character Boba (the idea that there is a character that traverses throughout most of the STAR WARS films is pretty interesting - of course, that would make Boba to be around his 50's in EMPIRE, not that it would matter when you have people that live into their 200s).  I would still make the clones off of different soldiers (maybe throw Vinnie Jones' mug onto a group of them, and have clones of different soldiers as opposed to just one guy) and make Jango/Boba a more prestigious individual and it is due to events in the Prequels that he has to resort to bounty hunting for a living.  Hell, maybe make him a sort of Pinkerton (ala the movie BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID) or a Texas Ranger - a cop who becomes a criminal or just a disillusioned former soldier.

I like the disillusioned soldier.

I always imagined that Boba was wearing his own armour. After all, it's his size and everything.

The ESB novelisation says he's wearing the armour of a group of dark warriors that fought in the Clone Wars.

Well, so maybe Boba is the last of his group? He wears the armour out of his love for his vanished people.

I sometimes wondered if that armour wasn't clone wars-era stormtrooper armor.

it sucks that the mandalores wern't featured in some way in the PT, they seemed so anti-jedi. it would have been interesting perhaps for them to act as a goon like villain in TPM.

Was going to sign up to suggest this very thing, but RoccondilRinon beat me to it.

My opinion - Recolor Jango (maybe Angel/Vaderios could create some mockups here) so that he has the same colour armour as OT Boba (pre battle damage)

Also remove young Boba. This little kid is just one of the things that ruined my childhood preconceptions of Boba Fett as a badass.

As far as everyone thinks. the armoured bounty hunter is boba, but never referred to by name and never seen without his helmet (to preserve the character's mystery)

This would turn (boba) fett from 30 years old in return of the jedi, to much older (and therefore veteran)
This coupled with the mystery added to the character (you only catch glimpses of him, and never find out his age or see him without his helmet), would make him something of a mythical character. Spanning 2 eras.

Something to start off the ideas train:

Recolour Boba and cut all helmetless scenes - maybe superimpose a helmet for the few helmetless arena shots
Maybe give him some new dialogue (in OT Jason Wingreen type voice)
Cut out child Boba - could potentially still have him on the arena podium, but then he's assumed to be a nobody or a boy servant.
When he takes off at the arena, cut there. He never takes on mace and never dies. We just assume he making an escape after seeing the overwhelming amount of Jedi that have just arrived.

Also, off the Boba topic slightly, I think the Jedi and the republic should already be aware of the Clone Army from the start  (thus eliminating the ridiculous Obi Wan detective sifo dyas sub plot). This could be achieved with some clever editing, and using the analysis droids deleted scene (and dubbing new voices or subtitles for the droids that link the dart immediately with Kamino rather than all the deleted archives nonsense)

The entire clone army made in secret thing went nowhere, and the Jedi and the republic were happy to make use of them despite not knowing the agenda of who had them created. Dumbasses!

why do people feel the need  for ever character to be badass?

End of the day ppl jango as boba wont work and hopefully this pic will say why

The uniforms are different in regards to armour on the legs, boba was known for his own gun and not two pistols, different jetpack and always it would miss the well known should cloth thing lmao. Besides this i will try and change Jango into Boba with the power of the Photoshop! :D

It's feasible that Boba would have slightly changed his armour/weaponry in the period between the PT and the OT. Also it wasn't just the cloths he had over his shoulder, but braided wookie scalps - which tie up with the imperial/trandoshan persecution of the wookies in these same years.

Can't say I particularly care whether the outfits/arsenal match up exactly. His gun, cloth and jetback all change between Empire and Jedi anyway.

Also, it's not just the fact that Boba Fett, of all people should always, ALWAYS be badass, but that child Boba was annoying and a piss poor actor.

Whether you agree with me on the badass part or not, that kid has to go IMO.

The difference in costumes is a nonissue. The films are canonically set 25 years apart and an absolute minimum of 20. One would expect Boba's armour to have been significantly damaged, worn and upgraded in that time.

Also, the idea of him being in his 50s or 60s in ESB makes him even more of a badass, IMO.

knocked this one up

colour changing takes a while, but i can imagine it is DOABLE on a level slightly more primitive level to the image. there are quite alot of changes in this, but scratches and rough marks would be impossible the only way i can imagine it working, is if someone made a 3d model, and emulated the exact movement over the jango actor, then perhaps blended the two perhaps?

i want these!

THAT is absolutely perfect

for me I don't mind the Jango character but having him in the Millennium colours was a mistake,

having him in Boba's colours makes a lot more sense to me, as we would know where he got his costume from

okay, couldnt resist...holiday special version.

does anyone know where i could get a good copy of the holiday special cartoon? ive got the dvd preservation but even that is a bit bad (plus i still dont know how to convert vob-avi without paying!) i was wondering if i could use it to make a ESB:R prequel called the 'bounty hunter of ord mandell' which would tie in with hans line.

For DVD-to-avi conversion, you can use AutoGK, which is free.

cool! ill try that! but i have just tragically discovered that i deleted my dvd copy!:O

it will be handy for future projects though. there was a HQ version on youtube that i think is as good as the dvd gets. so ill give that a go.

has anyone watched droids before? i know fett makes an appearance in that, is it worth investigating or is it a bit...well....you know how hit and miss star wars can be at times...;)
