I've been wondering how Adywan will manage the side view of the Emperor Hologram now that he's synthesized the DVD hologram with the ROTJ Emperor. Has anyone thought about this besides Ady?

People must learn at least to roll the page a bit and seek the answer...

So guys what would be better when it comes to the Emperor / Palpatine situation:
1, Keep the movies as is.
2, Change the RotS emperor to look like the one in RotJ. RotS-->>RotJ
3, Change the RotJ emperor to look like the one in RotS. RotS<<--RotJ
4, Mix them up a bit? so we can see a degree of the "colourfull" RotS Emp to a corpse like Emp in RotJ, thus making the Holo of the Emperor in TESB a mixup? RotS>>-TESB-<<RotJ
Ps: I dont wanna see that ugly original holo emperor anywhere in the mix...erk !
Star wars: Revisited. is now on facebook :)

I'm all for bleeding the colour off of the RotS Emperor
I hate that he has pink skin in that
But what that has to do with TESB is quite beyond my capacity

Emperor talk should be kept to the hologram....I presume, to "stay on target": ESB:R
Happy Birthday Ady! (sorry for the lateness, better late than never)
I consider it a duty if you join this forum to read what other people, in the end it could be seen as paying attention to what others express.

Good idea, belongs in the Prequel thread tho I guess.
BTW Happy birthday, ya I know it's late :/
X-Wing Mechanic, you pose an interesting question.....I don't exactly remember if there is a side frame in ROTJ to take from, I think when Luke is looking out the window to the Rebel Fleet being masacered (sp?) outside by the Imperial Fleet would be a good starting point....does anyone remember more? (I don't have the movie within my grasp here at work)
There's definitely a side frame - when the Emperor and Vader are walking from the shuttle when the Emperor first arrives. They're walking, sure, but I think it'd work.

He just needs a still frame, as the Emperor really doesn't say much from the side. He could even pick a frame where you can't see his face at all!

005,
That shot should pretty much do it. I would be surprised if Ady isn't using it....
O.T. or No T., baby!™
I wonder if Angel would mind doing a mock-up of that shot 005 (Again, I would do it, but they won't let me have photoshop here at work, damm IT guys! hehe)
Im busy with my exams folks. After 28th of May again

No problem Man, I'll do it tonight then, when I get home, I'll try to be as good as you are at it, hehe.
One thing that i ve noticed to ady's New mattes and background replacements. ( From the Ion cannon video, the new bridge shot/matte) When replacing the old windows with the new one the plate has a static grain. I was wondering if there is a way to smooth it and add an animated slight grain so background and live action is blending better. Because the static image is pop up and looks fake.

I've noticed this as well and found it distracting. It's also noticeable in the last shot of the new trailer (also a Star Destroyer bridge shot).
I don't remember why I didn't mention it before. Perhaps I was going to but forgot about it. Well, at any rate, After Effects has some very good film grain filters. Putting a very small layer of moving grain on top should mask the static grain without adding so much that it's distracting.
Also.. Ady do you consider to add some slight/little reflection to star destroyer(s) windows? just a kiss to show that is glass and not empty space. Like you did with the bespin ones.

Guys, at the risk of sounding completely dumb and very "turbolaser-bullseye-y" can you elaborate on this grain matter? where should I look and how does this manifest in the video?
On a side note....
10 year Anniversary for the Phantom Menace is today.

At the Ion cannon Video, look the shot that ady has replaced the bridge windows. The grain that has the new windows is static because is plate, compare with the moving grain that is visible on the actors.

Thanks, Captain Bringdown...
Just kidding. ;) I don't care to see the theatrical--or any 'as-is'--version again, but I have enjoyed some of the fan edits. It's not a terrible movie, it just needs a lot of the fat skimmed off it.
I don't see the grain on the actors, I guess my visual senses are not keen enough.
I'm really happy AdY is working on the emperor scene............I'm really looking forward to his version.
I was happy as hell when they updated it for the DvD's...........at least they gave it a shot and made use of Ian during filming of RoTS.....it was better than the "monkey eye" woman.
However - more work needed to be done in post to make him look CONSISTENT with how he looked just 1 film later.

See it in 720p and in motion ;)
Snapshots cant prove what Im saying..
ChainsawAsh Got it ;)

Well, you need to see it at higher resolution. And it's not so much that you can see the grain on the actors (you really can't very well), but you *can* see it in the window frame, and it's *not* moving like real film grain should. It's just distracting to those who are familiar with the way film and film grain works.
Check out Ady's 720p ion cannon clip. You can see it plain as day there. (Though the planet curvature isn't fixed on that one, and the red light isn't there either.)
--EDIT--
Angel, you beat me to it :-)
I was wondering why he changed geography and flipped this shot:
