Seriously, I think with some things it's ok to be "romantically" correct rather than "physically" correct.

i couldnt agree more sevb32. maybe the shot could do with the falcon being a little reangled, but at the end of the day, it makes a point. back when they made this film, would they have actually decided where the bridge was? i always thought it was right at the top somewhere. its all very well pointing these things out in an encylcopedia made over ten or even twenty years later, but i wouldnt be surprised if alot of these things are based on the creative license of the illustrator, not necessarily the prop designer/direcor/storyboard artist.

Sometimes physics isnt as fun as incorrect adventure. In fact, physics is never as fun. :p

And that is why 'suspension of disbelief' can sometimes be encouraged in order to enjoy a work of art.

^ Oh noes! It's Atlas-Jawa! ^

Within the film, it's never specifically shown or stated where the bridge is in relation to the rest of the ship. Therefore, I've never really thought or cared much about it and have no qualms with the current shot.

Perhaps they should have taken the films themselves into account when making these encyclopedias and whatnot. If anything, I say leave the shot alone and print yourselves a photoshopped page for the book that fits with the movie :P

I was using the models for reference not any encylopedia the sets have a window shape that is matched by one of the varient models, that sets the scale...unless the Star Destroyers in Jedi are a very different size, as does the relative size of the Tantive.

The shot through the windows seems right to me but either that's out or the other shot is out.

I always thought the Falcon should be MUCH smaller than it is when it's attached to the Star Destroyer.  It makes the SD seem too small to me.

Me too....somehow it does look smaller and less imposing....

You know what I just thought of? That scene in ROTJ where the A-Wing blows up those globe dealies (shield generators?) on a Star Destroyer. It is dwarfed! And the Falcon isn't thaaaaat much bigger than an A-Wing. So...I dunno, is my thinking right on that? I'm just going by memory. Actually, looking at the screengrab of the Falcon attached to the SD and thinking of what size the A-Wing might be, maybe it's not that far off. :p

Thoughts? ;)

The only way to get scale right is to take the millenium falcon which is

34.75 meters Long

25.61 meters wide

8.27 meters Tall

and the star destroyer Avenger

which is

1,600 meters Long

and wookieepedia doesnt tell me any thing else. =0

But all you really need to do is alot of math and measure the models them selves

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I don't think we should go by what's in a book or a site that ends with 'pedia' too much, though. Those numbers and stories seem to change every time a new version of the movies or books comes out. I think it's more important in some cases to go with what the eye perceives.

Honestly all the scene needs is slight tweaking. When its on the back of the bridge it is only a little too big. But it doesn't bother me. Adywan is making a star destroyer so the scene will probably be tweaked

Was captain (Admiral at the time) Piett on the same ship as Captain Needa. Actually I think he is . Cause Piett becomes Captain after Needa dies. YES IT IS/

I always thought that Vader promoted Piet one more grade when he said : Dont fail me again.... Admiral.

I like instead of Admiral to be like General. One more promotion to make his life harder.

More executive powers to Piett!

No, he promotes him when he kills Ozzel, then says "You are in command now, Admiral Piett."  When he says it later, he's reminding him of how he got promoted, basically saying "I can just as easily do the same to you."

And Admiral is a Navy rank, while General is the equivalent Army rank.  General Veers commands ground troops and walking tanks (Army), Admiral Piett commands a space-based aircraft carrier (Navy).

Nope Piett was Admiral when he died and he was on the Executer

In regard to the falcon zooming past the SD window and appearing too close........very good point. I never really saw it that way - but it sounds like a legit flaw.

However, I'd still leave it as is only because if Ady were to push it further back it would lessen the dramatic impact of the scene. In other words....I'd let it slide as Sev and others have also suggested.

I would be willing to donate $100 to Adywan for this project if I can get other people to do it too. Who's with me?

Just donate what you feel you can, as others have. It should be purely voluntary.

Hey Kid, its extremely low class to talk about "how much". How much somebody can or is willing to donate to Adywan is their business, NOT yours or anybody elses...GOT IT?

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.
