I'm all for a few subtle references to the prequels, I mentioned the neckless earlier but I'm not too keen on flashbacks unless it's in a Godfather 2 type saga re-edit where they can be a meatier.

I would love to add a few whispers to the cave sequence in ESB (I mentioned giving the lizards and snakes a few subliminal connections to fallen Sith Lords, red and black markings, sith eyes etc, it is a dreamscape so you can get away with a bit of trickery there).

The odd Clone War era ship in the fleet of ROTJ would be welcome too, all those weapons would have to go somewhere (either to a wreckers yard or sold on on the black market) and that works both ways I'd love to see OT ships in pristine condition in PT too.

Outside of Ady's ANH:R I'd like to see the family graveyard put into the Lars homestead and the readout lights from AOTC's Garage being put into the ANH garage.

Nothing as stand out obvious as sticking Hayden's head onto Seb Shaw's neck but little touches that people who look for them can notice (like having the battledroid in the Sandcrawler in ANH:R).

On a seperate subject I've searched high and low and not managed to find a good isolated shot of the Endor deflector dish at night (without a ship or building in front of it) if anyone has or finds one I would be very grateful if you could send it to me in PM.

The last mockup I did is mostly Angel's work (I just added a bit to it to prove the concept of adding a waterfall to his pan) I'm sure he could do a much better job and hope he will give it a go when he is less busy.

It might be nice if as well as having the platform the Imperials had a hanger for launching bombers and the like on the other side :

Endor Bombers

I have a very big version of the background image if anyone else want to play about with it drop me a PM.

OMG....i LOVE epic LOTR Endor

The problem with a pan down is that there isn't enough footage of the action from high up to merge with any images of this sort.

A pan up may be possible because a lot of the bunker footage is shot from the ground pointing slightly upwards which might be merged with a new model shot.

The image I made certainly couldn't be used because it's from very high up (to get the bombers in) and a scale very unsuitable for a shot of that kind.

Nice big cannon! Reminds me some levels at Empire at war lol

@Bingo: Do you see the mammoth behind the shield dish? ;)

The colours are all screwed up by skydrive again I had to yank up the saturation and yank down the brightness to get it to look remotely like the image I was working on.

The big gun/guns would explain why none of the fighters in the space battle didn't drop down and try and take on the base from the air (seeing as they were getting their arses pretty much handed to them a few fighters wouldn't have made that much of a difference to the space battle if the ground base was as unarmed as it seemed to be in the theatrical cut).

It seemed odd to me that there was no air support during the ground battle.

The Tie Bombers didn't appear in the space battle at all and they seemed to me to be the ideal craft to bring into play above the treeline.

Think Apocalypse Now's helicopter runs but against Ewoks and Rebels (mockup quality as always is limited to source material and only there to illustrate a concept not to be a representation of a final scene).

Apocalypse A Long Time Ago

Tie Bombing

Is there a piece of John Williams music that sounds like Ride of the Valkyries?

Tie Fighter Attack from ANH has a Wagnereque feel to it BTW.

It would possibly mean taking the blast of it out of the Death Star run (it really needs to go from the Sarlacc Pit fight, why the hell wasit there in the first place?).

I just thought of a ending to the Tie Bomber sequence too, when R2 lugs into the bunker he tells the big base gun to target the bombers and then gets's shot (so it's a down moment, followed by an up moment, followed by a down moment)

For those lucky enough to have the technology to do it a video mockup of this idea would be very welcome.

Well i dont know about ride of the valkyries. BUT. In the sound track at the very beggining of the asteroid field song their is a reprise of the imperial march that is very powerful which would work for tie bombers bombing the little ewoks. Now outside of star wars. The indiana Jones soundtracks have alot of powerful songs. I am tempted to plop the slave childrens march somewhere in the saga. very good battle music

We could make the imperial landing pad look more like jurrassic park in terms of the landing pad being surrounded by water next to a water fall. Or in the vain of Bingowings mockup. except the tie fighters go through a hidden base beind the water fall. yes show tie fighters going through a water fall.

The gun is to guard the dish so it makes sense it should be on the same range as the Dish (which like an observatory would need to be high up) putting on the same mountain could create problems.

Besides the dish itself is huge and certainly would have defenses of it's own.

u know, the dish isn't noticable down around the bunker. all u see is that square little building and nothing else around it. i think the sheild bunker could be expanded to be a little bigger.

Awhile ago I remember us all talking about possible additions to the Hoth battle. More AT-ATs, AT-STs and the edition of speeder bikes. I liked these ideas and looked for a pic that showed how AT-ATs carried speederbikes. I could never find it, drove me crazy. While looking for the bridge pic I posted in the Empire revisted thread I found it. So I thought I would post it.

*please note Ady I very specifically did not post this in your Empire thread becuase I know you feel the matter is closed as far as your edits go.

We could look at them as if they use red and green. The storm troopers use red. Hell maybe Green is more powerful

That could easily be put in. It would be classic. Good Idea Roccondi. Make it an easter egg.

Is that Will Smith reference from Independence Day?

Yes it is. And since he is in a cockpit he could easily be inserted into the fight as a bonus feature. It would be easier for him to be in the battle of endor though. It would be cool

But Independence Day is a terrible film, it's Mars Attacks! without the jokes (not to mention the only film I actually shouted at and I got applause too).

Hmmm. I respect your opinion. But I saw it when i was a kid and loved it ever since. I love blade runner but critics think it is a horrible movie. I did like mars attacks better though.

Critics nowadays don't think Blade Runner is horrible.  Ebert gave The Final Cut a good review when it came out.

That is because it had a cult following. A critic is gonna go along with what people say or people will look at that critic like they wouldn't know a good movie if it impregnated their daughter. Ebert gave the final cut a good review because the final cut made sense unlike the theatrical version.

What did you shout at it, if I may ask? ;) Sounds like you were doing live Rifftrax.

I've only seen around 3 or 4 minutes of Independence Day; one scene with Randy Quaid saying some tired catchphrases (the kind that make it seem like they're really trying to make it a catchphrase...which I hate) and one with a dog jumping away from some fire in a tunnel in slow motion or something. I immediately thought 'ehhh, this is not for me' and I've never actually watched it. I did see Mars Attacks! and that was a colossal waste of time. :p

Anyway, ESB wishlist... Hmm, well, I wish someone (especially Adywan in the ESB:R thread) would comment on that idea of having R2 fall straight into the hole after he fixes the hyperdrive, rather than that bounce/whatever thing he does.

Apocalypse A Long Time Ago

This could be really cool; would there be a way of getting the 501 and filming some short scenes of them on a Huey firing a machine gun?  You could finagle the image so they are at the back end of one of the 2 TIE bomber pods, with background images of the jungle below them.

On that note, I always imagined that one could add similar sequences to the Hoth battle in EMPIRE by having a door or a port on the side of the AT-ATs to allow the snow troopers inside to shoot at the snow speeders as they flew by (either shooting their heavier guns out gun slits or having a full opening ala a Huey firing a laser machine gun).

_____________

On a side note, I just don't get the hate ID4 gets.  I LOVED it when it came out.

Is it realistic?  Nope.  But you know what?  It was a really fun movie with some (still) impressive FX and action sequences and the characters are pretty good (which I know some can debate, but that is for another forum).  All it boils down to is TOWERING INFERNO with George Pal's WAR OF THE WORLDS with a lot of 70's and 80's references slipped in, of which they at least use.
