I like a night version of the previous mockup you made ;)

The angles are very different and to be honest I'm not sure how to go about it.
I'll try.
Nice idea ^^
Mockup looks great!
vaderios said:That scene sucks. Basicaly ROTJ has the same bad lighting with ANH ( strong sharp shadows)
I tried to eliminate some of them and reduce the blacks.
I enhance the screen so the middle one shows the rebels approach the death star and the front one to show several shit of the shield generator.
Also new panels.

I love the surround and I love the screen itself but I'm not sure if the idea of a holoprojection flat screen (which I assume this is) works, it seems a bit like over egging a really nice cake.
I'd love to see a version of this with everything but the sheet of light that the image seems to be projected on, there is a screen there so the image might as well be coming out of it rather than being projected over it.
The idea was that the panel has 3 screens to one :P

nice lighted panel
Without the multiple screens:

I get that now, it might help if you gave each screen layer a different colour signature so the crew looking at it could tell which was which at a glance (Bluey video, Red tactical readout, Green text overlay, that sort of thing) which might make for some nice colour bleed effects (like looking through different colour gels (I used to do this with sweet wrappers when I was a kid...and still had teeth).
Without the multiple screens:

That does look better (to these eyes) at the moment.
Perfect.
Yeah, I prefer the second version too, vaderios. Nice work! (as usual)
vaderios said:Its still all forest ;) but more interesting! try to see that image at night, when vader lands. The sound of waterfalls combining with lights= awesome. And will not occure problem with the later scenes because the bunker will be far from teh water falls.
Still when we see the dish gets explode a new matte or a more dramatic angle is good.
IMO always :)

u got me there ;) btw, nice mock up on the view screen.
Here's my full combination of Angel's pan and with a waterfall (I wanted to add the dish on the hill but I can'f find a good enough isolated one with the nightlights on it) :
Wawaweewa! :D The lighting seems a little...off...in certain places, but overall, very schway!
Angel has the raw ingredients hopefully he can cook it up better (in defence of the lighting, we have two large reflective objects in the sky and an imperial base lit up by floods).
This could even be the same platform as in the other mockup as we could be on the bank with the dish on and Han and Co could in the morning be looking down the bank on the otherside with a waterfall below them.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I like the lighting, the valley being lit by the floods really works. I also would like to see Endor as an actual moon in ROTJ:R.
i don't see them making little bows and arrows though or spears.
awesome Mock-ups Bingo

I'm posting this here as I don't think Ady would go for it on his edits but its open for anyone else to try
I was thinking of a way to join the 2 trilogies together, in as subtle away as possible, & I have seen some attempts on youtube where people have inserted footage of the PT into the sequence where Vader is watching luke get fried in RotJ & thought if this could be done with sound alone it would work alot better
Specifically in TESB, where yoda is teaching Luke to see time "old friends long gone" we could have padme say something like "I can still feel good in him" or have dialog from one of the cut scenes of Bigg's
another way to link the series would be to have Qui Gon say the line "No, There is another" but this one would depend on how you edit/interpret the PT in the first place.
If a slight echo was added to it & it was in the background it wouldn't really take away from the existing footage & could potentially be quite powerful if done right.

I dont think these will be popular ideas but I really like em.

I'm not here to be popular
just here to trow the odd idea in there as I can't do editing myself due to my iMac having SFA RAM & HD space

I'm all for a few subtle references to the prequels, I mentioned the neckless earlier but I'm not too keen on flashbacks unless it's in a Godfather 2 type saga re-edit where they can be a meatier.
I would love to add a few whispers to the cave sequence in ESB (I mentioned giving the lizards and snakes a few subliminal connections to fallen Sith Lords, red and black markings, sith eyes etc, it is a dreamscape so you can get away with a bit of trickery there).
The odd Clone War era ship in the fleet of ROTJ would be welcome too, all those weapons would have to go somewhere (either to a wreckers yard or sold on on the black market) and that works both ways I'd love to see OT ships in pristine condition in PT too.
Outside of Ady's ANH:R I'd like to see the family graveyard put into the Lars homestead and the readout lights from AOTC's Garage being put into the ANH garage.
Nothing as stand out obvious as sticking Hayden's head onto Seb Shaw's neck but little touches that people who look for them can notice (like having the battledroid in the Sandcrawler in ANH:R).
On a seperate subject I've searched high and low and not managed to find a good isolated shot of the Endor deflector dish at night (without a ship or building in front of it) if anyone has or finds one I would be very grateful if you could send it to me in PM.
The last mockup I did is mostly Angel's work (I just added a bit to it to prove the concept of adding a waterfall to his pan) I'm sure he could do a much better job and hope he will give it a go when he is less busy.
It might be nice if as well as having the platform the Imperials had a hanger for launching bombers and the like on the other side :
I have a very big version of the background image (without the bombers) if anyone else want to play about with it drop me a PM.
That is something I never thought of... why didn't Lucas make JEDI more along the lines of GUNS OF NAVARONE and put the deflector dish on a mountain fortress or the like? Maybe that is yet one of the problems with JEDI and the following prequels is that he didn't go back to his sources: the movies he grew up on.
One thing that could be done possibly (hope you're reading, Ady):
if an establishing shot or two like the above could be done in JEDI, maybe the bunker that the Ewok battle takes place around could be at the foot of the mountain. How hard would it be to add a mountain face behind the bunker, so the woods the fight takes place in is at the foot of the mountain?
This could also better explain how the dish could go up in a spectacularly LARGE explosion and not kill the main characters: if they planted explosives on the reactor deep underneath the dish, which so happens to be powered by, say, a dormant volcano, the charges could serve a double purpose of not just destroying said reactor but opening the lava dome of the dormant volcano. End result = large explosion on top of mountain as characters watch from the distance seen in the above picture.
Also:
would it be possible to create an image for a "pan-down" shot similar to the "shuttle landing at night" shot above? I was thinking that you could have the dish on the mountain on top, with a scene of the rebels in the woods at the far bottom (so the picture would pan down from "dish mountain" down to the foreground forest as the rebels make their way towards it).
I would negate the TIE hanger and gun tower or make them much smaller.
