I'm pretty sure it was a reference to the ion cannon shot. AFAIK, you're the first person to raise this particular concern. (Or, if it has been raised, it certainly escaped my notice, and I don't think it's been officially addressed...) :)

^Yeah, it's a beauty, huh? I think my favorite part of it is actually at the end when they jump to lightspeed. I knew about the blue bolt and all that jazz, but the jump was a total surprise. :)

this will show every post ady has made in this thread (plus any that use his name (unfortunately))

you should be able to skim through that lot much quicker and will have the answers to anything ady has already discussed

does anyone have a better method to filter down to just ady's posts in this thread - if so please share, it could save a lot of re-re-re-repeated questions ;)

While the Fine Molds Millennium Falcon is on the 'small' side, it is the best model you can get for the money. It has gotten great reviews from modelers on its attention to detail and ESB movie accuracy. It doesn't even compare to the cheaper Revell model. While it's Not 100% perfect, you wont find a better model for $200. Now, the Master Replica Studio Scale MF is much larger and would be great to use, however it isn't 100% accurate either, and $2000 is far less affordable. Not to mention the bigger your model, the bigger the set you have to build.

As far as borrowing models, (esp. from members of the RPF.com) it has been mentioned before, however Ady has expressed his concerns about accidentally breaking someone else's model and has so far turned down the option.

thanks for the links seven. I can't wait til its delivered and i can get started on this baby. Thos photos just prove to me that there is enough detail on this ship to be able to use it for these edits. Although many people have said that the dish is too small on the finemolds version its actually correct if you compare it to the model is was designed on, which was the 32" studio model. The 5ft model had the larger dish whereas the 32" had a smaller dish. As many modellers use reference photos of the 5ft model as reference the dish becomes the wrong size. now i don't know if i will give this the larger dish or not yet. there is a chance i wil ahve to so i can match it up with the full size set.

i would say the crater scene is hell of a lot worse than this shot. This shot is relatively easy to fix whereas the canyon needs all new elements for the most of it. so building a new set is my only option. Janskeet you don't need to post a whole sequence of pics, one would suffice.

not sure if i'm going to do anything about this. its more of a glancing blow than a full on hit or his arm would have been severed.

 but at the climax of the film,  where we pan in on the rebel fleet and the Millenium Falcon is docked to the Medical frigate and the camera zooms in on an obviously empty Falcon cockpit with very little interior lighting, and then cuts to a close up shot of Lando sitting in the cockpit with completely different lighting and he's talking to luke on the comlink  "well Luke, we're ready for take off"  then it cuts back to the exterior shot again showing the cockpit empty as the shot pans from the falcon to Medical frigate window.

Would it be possible to insert a plate of Lando sitting in the cockpit making his pre-flight adjustments,  it s always been a very jarring and clumsy transition between the exterior and interior shots,  and really makes the exterior shots look like the models they are.  I'm sure it'd be a complex job to match the camera pan and to make sure the plate of Lando actually look like he was sitting in the cockpit, but compared to everything else we've seen Ady capable of doing ,  I'm sure it could be pulled off convincingly.

i'm hoping to do something about that too. there is another problem with that scene too. it pans from the medical frigate window but 3PO & R2 are missing so i'm going to have to add them too.

i would say i've got a few hundred pounds more in material expenses yet. i can't get anything i need where i live but i'm off down to Birmingham for a day out for my birthday in just over a week so i'm hoping i'll be able to get at least some of the things i need down there.

its most likely because DVD audio is AC3 5.1 and is naturally lower when downmixed to stereo

I'm talking about the blu-ray version LFL will eventually have to come out with.

 

Any official blu-ray release will likely just be the same thing that was released on DVD and broadcast in HD. Adywan is using the (was it german?) HD broadcast of ESB to create his edit. So when times comes to release it there'll be a regular DVD release as well as an HD release (in I believe 720p).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way to get 1080p is blu-ray, right? I know Ady is using an HD broadcast, but it isn't true HD because it is not 1080p right?

 

the German HD broadcasts, along with the SKYHD ones were transmitted in 1080p so the source used is true HD
