I wish I could help out in some way.  Sadly, donations are a no-go for me ATM since I'm barely working part-time now and finances are tight.  I hope you get enough donations to finish this project  Adywan because I feel....well, this picture says it best:

Will try to send some donation help soon. Just bought a new house, so the funds are a bit tight for a few weeks. I see it as donation=finished ESBR sooner! The clip will come and go, let's help get this project finished faster!!

I'll gladly donate as soon as the rest of my tax rebate comes back (I'm waiting on both an Indiana and an Illinois one).

In fact, I should check to see if that's here or not ...

the main problem with having the cloud car flying towards the city is then we have 3 consecutive shots of a ship flying away from the camera. First Luke's X-wing which wipes to the shot of cloud city then straight into the fly-though scene with the cloud car. the middle shot really needs to be different or the repetitiveness is glaring. In the clip i did put that it was a temp shot and i always miss the original wipe shot with the cloud car (don't get me started on that refinery again. ;) lol). i have a few ideas about what to do with the shot but just need to do a few tests first.

Just a thought, but what about a compromise in this shot, where you could still have the 'main' cloud-car coming TOWARDS us (ala the GOUT original look) to juxtapose against the preceding shot of Luke's X-Wing RECEDING away, but ALSO have a 2nd cloud-car in the shot, being seen to be RECEDING towards the city too  (which would eventually look as if it ties-in with the start of the following shot showing a RECEDING cloud-car beginning it's city 'fly-through')

The one coming TOWARDS us would still be the dominating 'movement' in this shot, and would continue to give the necessary difference of 'direction of travel' between it and the before and after shots.

I like that. Maybe some more visual traffic to gain life the city.

Also  the architecture of the buildings that we see in the background at the leia's appartment shot dont match with the CGI ones. The problem is that we don't see them again in any shot, so is good to be replaced( the ones that look liek skycrapers).

Its me or when we see the cloud car flying (SE shot) the sky in the background is changing after it passes through buildings?

Also the glow in the engine it seems to missing from the engine just before in passes through buildings and after that the engine brighness/glow is tremling.

I hope ady can do something for that ;)

when i think of cloud city, i think of coruscant. i know we don't want that much skytraffic though. might look off.

When Cloud City is revealed, there is a pod car flying away from it towards us.  We then cut to the SE shot following a pod car flying through the city, almost giving a continuity problem as it feels as if they should be the same vehicle.  Fortunately the shot is a temp, and the city looks very good in the shot.

Keep going Ady.  Awesome work.

I suggested earlier to just reverse the course of the cloud car so its heading away from us and towards the city, so that the next shot of the fly through is a sort of continuation of the previous shot.  Even if it isn't the same cloud car, visually it would flow better.

I can understand; at the same time, the ship movement is directing us TO Cloud City, so the movement still serves a purpose.  In all the times watching EMPIRE, I never really noticed any repetition of ship movement to the point of it sticking out in a bad way.  Regardless, as long as the shot works with the flow of the film, that's all that really matters.

proving the point that ILM is not passionate about Star Wars, the very reason they exist is because of Star Wars.  If the personel were wanting to do it they would have done the work for free, dont you think?

ANH (Lukes lightsaber was green somehow in 2004 DVD release) I rest my case.

I was under the impression that Lowry Digital did the restoration and colour-correcting for the 2004 DVDs, and were given one month per movie.

They told me they’d fixed it!

eesh. i wonder how man people worked on it? they couldnt just channel all the funds into the one-man special effects department!

The only article about the 2004 DVDs says that it was ILM:

I don't remember where it was mentioned, but there's an article the specifically states that ILM did the colors and just had Lowry clean it.  I think ILM tried to restore it themselves to save money, messed up the colors and hoped Lowry could fix it.

http://www.apple.com/ca/pro/film/lowry/starwars/index.html

That article mentions that Lucasfilm scanned the negatives, carried out the "re-mastering" (I assume this means the '04 alterations) and the re-colour timing. Then then attempted a cleaning pass through ILM, before deciding to give the job to Lowry.

Lowry received high-definition scans to work with from Lucasfilm. Although it is not clear in the article, it's reasonable to assume that the scans provided contained the tweaks and the new colours.

I couldn't help but notice that the background to the bonus scene was a little monochrome will this be adjusted in the final version?

The stump that Obi-wan is behind is a bit odd too (he is a ghost it might work if he is infront of it and we can see through it, perhaps? Or maybe it could be adjusted to look a little less cut around).

Ben Stump

Yoda is amazing but in long shots the Obi-Wan element seems to missing some frames (is this temporary?).

Otherwise great, great work nice to see Ben not floating in a void for the first time.

It looks great from that shot.  I'm sure if it looks bad, its just a filler.

Obi wan really never bothered me. Its just when things are pointed out like. He looks like a hobbit or he is floating. I start seeing these things. as long as he is toned down a little bit itll be fine.

the background looks fine to me. it shouldn't be filled with colour due to the lighting. It has always looked that way. in fact there are more colour tones in my version than even the gout which many shots the background is plain blue.

Obi-Wan has to be placed behind the stump because of both scale and a few close up shots of Obi-wan and yoda, otherwise the scale is thrown out and he returns to tiny Ben or to keep the scale Obi-Wan would be missing his head for these shots.

Not sure what you mean by missing frames though because there are no missing frames

this scene is complete and i'm happy with it there is only so much i can do with the sources i have available and i just had to get rid of "tiny Ben"

I agree with focuspuller, I'm not a big fan of this "donate and get a clip" scheme either. Due to you advertising the fact that donors'd get a clip, no matter how you look at it, "donating" automatically becomes "buying".

I'm fine with you giving a "thank you" clip to donors, but you really shouldn't advertise that, nor even confirm it. Relying on word of mouth would've been a more correct thing to do.

Again, I don't mind you asking for donations (I've donated before), it's just that you should be more carefull how you ask for them. We're in a legally grey enough area as it is.

Adywan how much tweaking was done to Yoda in the bonus clip, you can always appreciate it more when you know what to look for. The buildings in the background to the left do note seem to fit in with the ones in the near ground when the cloud car is swooping around the buiding with Leah in it. The pointy top design and the one with the square top do not seem to fit in with the rest of the city. they remind me of backgrounds of the old Star Trek.Lol
