This is not really Special Content, but The Rocketeer was released in pal Region 2 in 5.1 english sound and anamorphic while the us release is a laserdisc dump in 2.0 and letterbox.

The Evangelion Films for those who like anime were also released in Japan region 2 in anamorphic and with dts sound.  Too bad no english subtitles or dub tracks.

The HD remasters to dvd of Space Battleship Yamato season 1, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Ghost in the shell, Lupin III movies and tv, are all japan exclusives for anime.  The Ghibli Film My Neighbor Totoro has the original fox dub in japan and not the bad disney one.  Also the film Princess Mononoke is a 3 disc edition and we got only a single disc.  The second Urusei Yatsura movie was released in anamorphic and remastered in japan but no us release.

Japan had a 2 disc edition for Underworld Evolution, Aeon Flux, and X-men the last stand.  The last stand was available in just about all regions except the us which got barebones single disc.

The Flash Gordon 1980 pal DVD not sure if its the UK edition or french one has an audio commentary with brian blessed and the director.

It is the UK edition, but just this Edition (Silver Anniversary Edition):

The French Version is stated to have some audiocommentary, too, but I can't get which one. And some other things, like a Soundtrack CD.

I kept that original theatrical trailer on repeat for about 30 minutes! lol And why were Flash Gordon and Co. wearing those Robin Hood-style costumes? Yeah, I own the Silver Anniversary Edition also but I think it's a later run.

EDIT: I also own STARMAN (R2 UK) really good commentary from Carpenter and Bridges.

I have the french disc. it has an audio commentary with mike Hodges alone, a video interview with him, the trailer and a theatrical trailer (in 16X9 mode) of the filmation production of Flash Gordon.

I found some things about not US Editions of "Caligula"

The UK 4 Disc Imperial Edition is statet to contain something more than the US 3 Disc Edition, according to the german "Online Film Datenbank" But nothing special is said what exactly more. (Maybe I get my hands on it and could compare it with the US imperial Edition)

The Japanese 4 Disc Edition of Caligula is statet to have some more deleted cenes on the 4. Disc, but the Picture is blurred in the hardcore scenes during movie (both versions) and extras!

The scenes on the japanese disc are statet to POSSIBLY be frome the lost cannes cut. But that is just a rumor on ofdb.de.

EDIT:

According to the UK reviews on tzhe 4 Disc UK Box of Caligula, the 4th Disc contains the Original UK Theatrical Version of the Movie. The Movie was cut down to approx. 110 Minutes. So this box seems not to be really better than the US Box. (Except if someone whants to preserver the cut down cinema edition...)

The japanese 4 Disc edition is avaible at yesasia, but.. its about $100 !!! So its to expensive just for a look at the additional Bonus Disc. (Not to say, the blurred scenes...)

ADDITION:

The even as tasteless Movie "Salo - or the 120 days of sodom" is Released in UK on BluRay and relreleased on DVD, full uncut (even the Criterion DVDs were cut), in english, and in italian with english subtitles.

Here are the Informations on the Extras:

Disc 1:
* Complete and uncut, re-mastered from original Italian restoration negatives
* Original Italian language version (with optional English subtitles)
* Original English language version (with optional subtitles for the hearing-impaired)
* Original Italian trailer (with optional English subtitles)
* Coil - Ostia (the Death of Pasolini) The original 1986 track from Coil's celebrated
second album, Horse Rotorvator, with a newly created video accompaniment, shot
especially for this release by Peter Christopherson

-Original italian Trailer

Disc 2:
-Open your eyes! (2008,21min): Pasolini and his actors at work and in interview on set of Salo.

-Walking with Pasolini (2008,21min): Roberto Purvis' new documentary exploring the meaning and impact of Pasolini's film,.

-Whoever Says the Truth Shall Die (1981,58min): the classic documentary on the life and death of Pasolini

-Fade to Black (2001,24min): a documentary discussing the ongoing relevance and power of Pasolini's masterpiece

-Ostia (1987,26min): a short film about Pasolini's last days, presented with optional commentary by director Julian Cole

-48-page illustrated booklet containing a new introduction to Salo by Sam Rohdie;Gideon Bachmann's on-set diaries; reviews and correspondence charting the film's troubled history; sills and on-set photography

The BluRay Edition containing the second DVD, so the content is the same.

The one that's really driving me nuts is The Ipcress File. It's not available at all in the US, and the Se in the UK has bonus features and the soundtrack. There's a new ITC blu-ray with fantastic image but no special features and its also not available in the US! Why can't we get the great Michael Caine films over here?

Hello folk,

some more ore less "news" from european and german DVD/BD market.

About the Movie Transporter 2: The Mission:

As far as I know the US Version is censored. The erotic dessous of Katie Nauta are colored blak or red. Additional one scene is stated to be cut some frames.

The German DVD so far is the normal uncensored Cinematic Version, with improved CGI, while theire are french, belgian and UK releases which are somebit longer and containing some unimproved scenes.

(The french, belgian and UK Versions are about 24 seconds longer than the german DVD release wich just kontain the normal cinematic release.)

And now:

On June 5th or 6th a new german DVD and BluRay Triple Box is released, containing a version of the movie already screened on television in germany with about 6 minutes more than the french uncensored Version.

Here is a comparison between the german normal DVD and the french version.

And here is a comparison between the french Version and the upcoming german release/TV Version.

Unfortunately both comparisons are in german.

As soon as I know if the new German triple release containing englisch audio I let you know. Poorly the new version of Transporter II is just released in the triple feature. (I preordered the BluRay Edition...)

Edit:

At the german ofdb.de the US DVDs of Transporter (1) seems to be cut in some small action moments. There some uncut releases of this movie on the european DVD Market.

The australian, the UK and the Hong Kong DVDs seems to be even cut as the US release. The french, belgian, japanese and german Editions are uncut and all containing english audio, and audio in the language of the country.

Edit 25th July.:

The BluRays of The Transporter triple Pack come all with English Audio and english Subtitles. According to the german ofdb.de the DVDs of the triple Feature are containing englisch Sub and Audio, too.

As said before, the german release of Transporter 2 is about 6 minutes longer than the uncensored french release. It has a running time of 94:11 Min with credits, and 87:30 Min without credits.
