It's R2-D2.  The bolt is right behind him.

You may be right 005, it is shaped as an R2 Unit, but you don't see it, maybe a mistake in compositing?

05 is correct the bolt is behind R2 and you can clearly see R2 heading for the falcon in that scene so i can't see why you think it is a mistake in compositing.

I agree with the shape and time, it must be R2, but if it where I would expect to be some detail that shows it is him, as it is now there's just an empty detail-less space there, maybe the frame in movement will show him, I'm just saying as it is now nothing appears there.....

Perhaps add the Dubai skyline? It's getting wackier by the day! Heh. (some of the buildings are quite nice and interesting, though)

I wasn't suggesting going that far ;-)

I meant something more along the lines of (but as always better than) but I take what Ady says about matching the scenes up as said:

Bespin Tarted up

For this mock-up I pinched from these two buildings and added more windows from the shot as it stands.

Isn't it still too bright in the room from the view of the outside? I thought it would look more realistic to darken everything seen inside the window a bit. But I could be wrong.

I don't know what's up with the red tone, I know the point is to show sunset but has anyone gotten the impression that they over do it? a good rule of design is to avoid "flattening" the image with the same color all over the place, some little contrast, some different color here or there to balance things out, but there are some Bespin shots that are just overly reddish.....as a side note.

its actually only a problem with the 2004 DVds because the original '97 SE doesn't suffer with the " one colour" syndrome as bad

Wow...that, like so many other questionable "creative decisions" vis-a-vis 2004 colouring, is appalling. It's almost like they intentionally set out to produce an inferior product!

creative desicions my royal @$$, I agree with Akwat Kbrana, it seems they set out to produce an inferior product, or cover some mistake? but it clearly shows they no longer think it's important to rescue the movies, *why invest more in something that is already such a cash inflow*....darn it!

Been lookin thru Empire past few days and cant see anything that hasnt been mentioned or done by Ady. Findin it really hard now to find things to try and change and worse its gettin harder to find pics to do mockups with lol.

What we need really is a kind of quick list Ady that u havent done yet and u wonderin about idea or just wot generally people come up with. Coz we dont know exactly how much uve done or every last thing uve changed lol.

On top of what is just a 'loose', incomplete list of Adywan's amendments on his first post of this thread, here is a separate, more comprehensive (though still incomplete) list of some of the ideas (not all of which are being used) and actual completed amendments that have been gathered.

Monroville last updated the 2nd page details in February it seems -   http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Adywans-ESB-edit-Suggestion-Terminal/topic/9477/

There's still a few things that have been mentioned, and then incorporated that aren't on this list though, and there's certainly a few things to come that haven't been fully covered yet for Adywan to consider, on top of these.

I will be doing some updating later this week; thanks for bringing it up.  Other... things.. have been occupying my time recently (like a property assessment I am arguing against that is going to increase my house value by $30K - just in time to increase my property taxes).

Nice to see the movie's actually getting worse as time goes on... that is, of course, till you came along ady :)  I have to say, though, the colour in the '97 version seems the best of all the shots (minus the poor contrast).

Ady - any reason you went with the orangish colour over that of the '97 version?

Here's my GOUT/DVD/REV comparison on the two shots that have GOUT to compare to:

One thing you can do is keep the building "as-is" but create a smaller version of the original building Leia is in (in the GOUT shot) and put it behind and to the right of the new Leia window.  You may have to add it to the building in the previous Pod Car fly by scene to account for the area outside Leia's apartment while not imposing a ton of work - which, while neat, is not integral to the movie (as in: it could be cut and not interfere with the main movie).

And notice this:

Those the same buildings in the same positions as when they arrived in Revisited.  Blessed Continuity!

If this is well into the evacuation of Cloud City, yeah maybe we would see a LOT more ships (I understand this is a still frame, so again it could be out of context) evacuating the city, but more to the point - shouldn't the building lights be off due to the city being shut down?

Maybe we could see buildings in the process of shutting down and add a faint siren (or multiple far-off sirens to emphasize different sectors of the city being warned simultaneously) to the background noise...

no, it matches the inside shot now perfectly

Well, not that the Leia window has to take months of work on it alone, but is it just an open space or an actual window?  If it is a window, it's not going to look like that; just walk outside your house and have someone pace by one of the windows (inside the house) with the lights on or in a den with a lot of sunlight in it...

If that IS a window, there is going to be some sort of ambient light reflecting off of it to some degree.  That's provided that it "is" a window... nothing saying you can't make it a sort of balcony room with an open space.

there are a lot more ships but its hard to see them on the still frame at low res. also they aren't shutting the city down but are making a hasty evacuation. i think that turning out the lights as they leave would be the last thing on their mind;)

Eh... just a thought.  I mean if they are doing a mass evacuation and Lando has given the order, there is nothing saying that there wouldn't be an automated shut down procedure that Lobot could activate with a single button.  I'm just saying that it could add to the dramatic visual and audio effect to show the city shutting down to further emphasize that hundreds of thousands of people are evacuating en masse.

Besides, you could still have the siren bit... <:)

Do we really need a siren? He already gave the evacuation order. People are fleeing. We get it already.

Put Ric Olie in the shot then for cryin' out loud.

"Look, it's an evacuation and the people are leaving!"

Bring on the trailer, those shots always amaze me, it makes the paitings and digital work look so much more real.

LOL... I vote ady put Ric Olie into every scene of ESB:R from this point onward.

I love Ric Olie!  I wish we could get that actor in to make an alternate audio track, like sometimes they have one for the blind.  I can't believe that he also plays the drugged-out stage manager in Wayne's World 2 though...

hahahaha Rick Olie in every scene! haha good one. I was thinking on the whole "hasty evacuation" thing and maybe add more ships, not so much as a siren (as to not detach from the sound FX and the musical cue of the escape) but A LOT of ships leaving in groups (think the rebel fighters at the end of ANH) so that you just know it's scram-time

His Wayne's World character was meant to be Danny from Withnail And I (can you imagine Danny surviving through the seventies, let alone the eighties? If he did he would have come full circle by the nineties so that no drug on Earth could effect him).
