^Wow, it's like my last post was prophetic somehow! :p
adywan said:It was meant in a jovial kind of way and not meant to be insulting, but since we lost the smilies i always put "lol" at the end when it is meant in a light hearted way and not to mock the person i was replying to. I apologise if you took it that way
No problem at all Ady. Thank you for the understanding and good luck!
I only ment to post it once, but i guess I got my piont across.lol
I know Ripplin, this plauge is ravaging this board lol.
Adywan, it would be very interesting to see your original take on that scene. I do like the new one, it's very "pretty",but it's just different. I kinda miss those ocean blue clouds in the original film. One idea I have, I know those clouds will move, but as I have not seen them in motion, I don't know where they go so, I think having the front cloud on the left and right is a little... "distracting" maybe the left side could be trimmed. I don't know, I think It's just different and has to set in. lol
But I wait for this movie with intense anticipation, and the weekly debates. (I'm the guy who yells fight fight fight before it happens lol)

Again this shot has full video motion clouds so you can't really get a sense of what the finished shot will be like until you see it in motion, plus the x-wing is missing
Love this, so beautiful! Hey Ady do you ever look at the scripts to see if there are any visual descriptions that were never fully implemented into the final movie that you could bring to life? I bring this up because I was looking for quotes about Cloud City and found this in the script:
EXTERIOR: BESPIN SURFACE -- MILLENNIUM FALCON
It is down on the gaseous planet. Huge billowing clouds
form a canyon as the ship banks around them, heading toward
the system's Cloud City.
Suddenly, two twin-pod cloud cars appear and move toward
the Falcon. The cloud cars draw up alongside the starship.
After I read that I remembered that shot above and thought how perfectly that fit the description for the earlier scene.
adywan said:this is something that has always bugged me about bespin. does it have 1 or 2 suns? look at the scene where the falcon first approaches cloud city. first the sun is behind/ to the left of them then its in front of them but the 2 positions of the sun are consistent so maybe there is 2 suns after all. in the end it all just ends up that i think the clouds look better lighter in the foreground. i did try it with the clouds darker but it just didn't look right at all and didn't have the effect that i was after and the background clouds were perfect especially when, towards the end of the shot, you see the sun poking out from behind the city
According th Star Wars Wiki it has one sun Ady, take that for what it is worth to you.

I love that idea. FX shots from script would be quite neat. I'm not sure how feasible that shot is, but I'd love to see it mixed with a trimmed version of the SE fly-in.

Thanks vaderios!
That latest 'cloud' shot looks like a 'Turner' painting in comparison to the original look. The new lighting makes the city's setting seem truly 'realistic' now, and the brief glimpse of the sun behind the city (which will appear towards the end of the shot) sounds like it'll be a very nice moment indeed.
I guess it might even end in a brief 'lensflare' then, perhaps. Since the added ones on 'ANH:R', turned out so well, I'm sure it'll look equally great if Adywan has decided to add one here.
Either way, this shot is bound to look amazing in 'motion' eventually.
I hope no-one minds, but seeing as the latest 'cloud' shot has been shown above again (still minus it's X-Wing element), I wanted to see the other recent 'cloud' shot (from earlier in the movie) shown a few pages back, in close proximity to it on the same page for an at-a-glance comparison of the lighting differences between the time periods.
So here it is.

I love the whole feel of this shot. It looks more realistic and moody, and less erm, well, fantasy idealistic. It also sets up the darker tone the storyline takes from that point.
Its unfortunate that you have have to scrap work youve already spent days modifying, but its great to see your so commited to giving the best visual experience you can give, and the fact your taking onboard our ideas in your final vision.
I imagine this will look awesome in motion when finally completed. So it gets three thumbs up from me(would get four but im not that much of a mutant)!
I Like that Ady add more detail or just add the city on top ;)
The grey clouds needs a kiss of blue. just 2% of color layer

That shot looks absolutely gorgeous!
It looks like you took a day trip to Bespin yourself and took a real photo.
(however I do think Darth Solo's version is just slightly better :)

I just see one small thing wrong with it, the clouds at the front seem to have a dark/blurred out outline around their edges.

Great Pics Ady. Keep them coming. I just saw your ESB 1080 and was very impressed. Do not listen to all the people here who argue with you. This is your project end of story.
I know I am jumping the gun here, but for next weeks picture can we get a duel pic?
