1. For ripping a movie off of a DVD, I use DVDFab 5 . I can rip one in a couple hours. (Laptop, with Intel Centrino).
2. To rip a video off of YouTube. Just copy the url in the "URL" field in the description area, and then go to http://www.videodownloadx.com/ and paste the url into the 'Download' field, and click 'Download Video' button. A link with appear a little ways below. It'll say ">> Download Convert Record Stream << (Left-click to save file OR copy and paste the link into your download manager. Note: You must change the file extension to .flv)".
3. I have a tuner card in my PC that I can hook audio&video to, and capture using the app it came with.
