Also, I'm currently making my own version of ROTJ and can't seem to find a certain track that appears in the film quite a few times.

On the soundtrack there are two Jabba's Palace band music pieces which are Lapti Nek/Jedi Rocks and Baroque Recital but there's another piece of music missing that plays just after Chewbacca is put in jail and on the sail barge as its heading out to the Sarlacc pit.

I was wandering if anyone has this track or knows where I can rip it/dowload it from?

I read that the track was lost a long time ago in a fire or something and doesnt exist anymore.

Yea I thought as much. The big story with ROTJ was that the masters did get lost somehow, might have been a fire, not sure. I was just wandering if it had got out somehow, or if someone had got a really good rip off a DVD or something.

If not I guess I'll just have to leave it. Although I will never give up the search! =)

According to a comment from the guy that posted that vid, "The second one hasn't been officially released (it's rumored to have been destroyed or lost). It can be heard almost completely in "From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga"

Well, a lot of us have that in DVD form, transferred from the VHS. Maybe it could be taken from there and cleaned up a bit?

Ooh that sounds really good, I think I have that somewhere... I'll have to check. Wow thanks guys, if this works out it's a massive help!

EDIT: Just found that I do have a digital copy of it but the music is played during dialogue and as this is simply an avi file, the music is not kept on a different channel from the dialogue.

Any ideas as to how to get this isolated?

Row47?? I'm not familiar with this terminology, sorry. And what's EditDroid?

Do you happen to know what the source is?

Oh, sorry. They're not new discs by any means, so maybe you hadn't heard of them before. Those are the usernames of the guys that made the discs (they're supplements to laserdisc rips). Both are/were OT.com members.

The source is the official VHS tape "From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga." I actually have two copies of it; one from 1989 (got it for $2 at Value Village a few weeks ago) and one from 1992 (Corn Pops mail-in offer coinciding with the Timothy Zahn trilogy hype, I believe it was).

So how do you think I could isolate just the music? And where could I get these two edits from? Are they still on here somewhere?

I believe the EditDroid set had an isolated music track, so if you can find that you can probably just take that cue from the isolated score track.

^I'm going to look into what Mr. Chainsaw said. I'll post my findings soon.

And...yessir, there's an isolated track. I dunno where he got it, but that now lost track is there, uninterrupted by speech or sound effects. :)

I can send you a copy of EditDroid's ROTJ if you'd like, Beatho.

I thought so.  That's fantastic to hear - I wish I still had those sets now.

RE the EditDroid audio (quote from nfo):

[...]the isolated scores, whose sources were all the commercially available soundtracks, as well as the promotional Lapti Nek 12" single (NO other sources were used for the music. Period).

So if it's on there it should be on some official release?

Hmm.. does anyone know if EditDroid is still hanging around here? I might try and PM him, ask where that source came from. I know it doesn't appear on any of the 3 official soundtracks; the 1983 Polydor, 1993 Anthology, and 1997/2004 RCA/Sony. As I believe, the LP released was exactly the same as the Polydor CD so not there either. Can anyone think of any other musical releases for ROTJ?

Oh and Ripplin, if it's not too much trouble sending me that EditDroid Bonus CD that would be very helpful!

EditDroid doesn't post here.  He does read the forums from time to time, although he doesn't have a membership or profile here.

It's not a CD, it's a DVD. :) (it's a laserdisc rip of "Return of the Jedi", with the isolated score as a bonus feature) So you'll need to know how to rip audio from it. Is that ok? You might wanna PM me your address if you'd like to go ahead with this. ;)

I'm afraid I can't tell ya, mate.  He likes his privacy.

And I should add that it is not related to his edits anyway.

Hmm, yea I don't blame him.

So is there no way I can get in contact with this elusive EditDroid? Which forums does he like to visit?
