 But then as the scene plays out, wouldn't it appear that Han never reads the information on display? It would be like he has an amazing ability to recognize the dozen systems found near Hoth just by glancing at the globes, while Leia is reading.

Or am I looking into it too much?? Ha!

i like the globe idea. if there was colour added, the light on their faces could change also as the flick through different systems.

Beautiful Davnes!  I'm not sure the eyelines are perfect yet, but its an excellent concept.  I think with smaller text in Aurebesh to keep it less of a distraction (love the "info" you put in, LOL), it would work well.  I'm sure someone will want to use it, if not Ady.

Great work!  Well worth the loss of sleep!

Okay, this is my first post here so be kind...

Ady, i'm a massive fan of your edit, despite my DVD-5 cutting out just before the Death Star assualt! It's amazing how one man can do what Lucas and his crew have failed at again and again...

Anyway, what do you guys think of this Vader holo upgrade?

 

Obviously the perpsective could be better...

Not bad, but every needs to remember that it needs to be a video from the right angle.  A fuzzy static picture of Vader does not come close to replacing the holo shot, no matter how bad it was originally.

It doesn't have to be a full body shot why not try the head & shoulder approach

Whilst that does risk being a superfluous change, it does look frickin' awesome. I'd love to something like that in Ady's cut if only for the cool factor.

As i recall, all holograms thoughout the saga have been full body shots though.

I have to say, I was sceptical about including a cut-away shot to a view-screen or even having a hologram pop up in that scene, as I was thinking that it may be too distracting. But davnes' video mock-up has really changed my mind on this - it is tastefully done (really liked the cloud-city and the mining-platform holographic images popping up when they were mentioned in the conversation), already looks good (and could potentially look better with certain refinements; perhaps adjusting its position, etc), and is surprisingly subtle (it looks as if that holoram has always been there, what with Han and Leia reading the text, and it popping on and off perfectly in time with Han's switch-flipping; when I compared it to the original scene, I actually missed it!).

And I definitely don't see it as a distraction - if needs be, the hologram could be made slightly smaller, or else slightly fainter, to be better placed in the scene.

But great stuff! Here's hoping that something like this makes it into ESB:R.

what if we had a cutaway AND a hologram.

 

the cutaway could show a little panel with text on which would be what their eyeline is focused on perhaps

I really like the blue spinning globes for the Falcon cockpit scene, but the green texts and outline were a bit "heavy" and destracting. Maybe slower rotating planet holos and smaller, more subtle blue-ish text (similar in hue to the lighting in Han and Leia's faces) might be better and less distracting from the actors.

one small change is needed

reverse what they are looking at, have Han look at the text & leia at the graphic, as han is the one giving out the facts.

Very nice! Subtle and not too flashy. I would maybe remove the box around the text though.

And of course, it's great to see Engli-Besh get some love!
