No matter what, anyone giving a defense to the prequels for anything is forced to read between the lines.

Even if he did give them communicate before hand, which I have no doubt is intended to be the case, it is still kind of dumb they'd just take the baby and say, "Be on your way then." Rather than saying, come on in, would you like a glass a blue milk? Need a place to stay for the night? What ever happen to good ol' Tantooinian hospitality?

I know they were going for brevity, which they accomplished well enough, but the whole thing comes off as rather staged. Reminds me of those reenactments done for documentaries. To me that scene just doesn't work in any kind of way.

Well I'd assume he just "called" them and somehow convinced em to take Luke (do mind tricks work over the phone?)
