Thanks for the breakdown, Ziz. I couldn't remember if the "semi-ultimate" had the trivia track or not. (actually, wasn't that where it said 'hey, that's me!' when Harrison Ford's name came up? Was that even fixed for the DVD-9?) I need to watch it again, with the trivia track on. Been a while. ;)

The DVD-9 is the "ultimate" (and final) edition. It has a bunch of extra features that aren't on any of the other editions.

Where is this version available for download please?

Same place as the ADM Extended prequel movies I told you about, actually. Lots of great stuff there. :)

No, just the opposite.  The 9 is where the text is mixed up, on the 5 it's correct.

That's right, because he moved his personal credit away from being right behind Lucas', but left the commentary text.  It's more like the Special Edition credits now (Rick McCallum didn't put his name up front, why should Ady?).

I'm all in favour of keeping the end sequence of ESB pretty much as it is.

This scene is IMO about as close to a Binary Sunset moment that ESB gets, and the galaxy shot has become fairly iconic of the mood.  Change the visual too much, and the original mood is lost.  As for astronomic accuracy, we must remember Star Wars is Science Fantasy, not Science Fiction.  We don't need Star Trek style explanations for every technology and phenomenon, and that IMO is one of the great differences between the two universes.  Whether we're looking at a star formation, the local galaxy viewed from the outer edge (rim?), bright matter circling an occluded black hole or a nearby galaxy viewed through some lensing effect of interstellar dust it doesn't really matter.  Though I'll freely admit I am rather fond of the Rishi Maze explanation (I feel it ties in with AOTC rather well on a subtle level, and is still plenty big for a fleet to 'hide' in).

If we do start down the dark path of fixing things that are implausible to current science, then even the Binary Sunset shot, where two nearby stars appear the same size and in close proximity from an orbiting planet, is in trouble.

And as for the Nebulon B medical ship, well ditto for the whole plausibility thing, and I guess to a lesser extent it's a bit of an icon in its own right.  Plus it looks kind of like a toy pistol, in a good way.  Fine if the point where it docks to the Falcon needs fixing, but that's just continuity.

Nebulon B Frigate

I have a feeling in the Revisited Battle of Endor the vulnerability of that narrow bridge may become apparent :)

Great point, i did always like the scene, i just think maybe the falcon should be looking like it's going IN the galaxy thing or whatever it is instead of just ranomly going off in a direction. Basically just minor changes r needed for the scene, which is the way it should be.

Docta Nick, I concur.

It's not a matter of replacing the galaxy so much as bring it closer (about double or triple the size - galaxies are pretty big and even with the galaxy that much bigger would still mean they are a few 1000 light years or more from the galaxy's edge.  And yes, it is a galaxy) and take the Falcon shot when it approaches Yavin IV to show it heading directly away and to the lower left - as in; towards the galaxy.

Regardless, here are some images you all might find interesting:

(for full size) it isn't mentioned, but I believe the dish in the upper right is the Death Star laser.

So the theory of the Home One is bigger than a Star destroyer is gone!

Id like to see how Ady will replace the damn faded and unidentified capital ships at the end of the ESB

Firefox users have to use IE to get full value.  With IE, you can move the ship profiles around to put one directly next to or on top of another to see how they compare point for point.

I disagree. I think the scene could possibly use an upgraded "image" in the back (to avoid calling it a galaxy or star), but even if Ady sticks to his word and leaves it as it is, I wouldn't have a problem with it. It is not distracting to me over how it looks, nor is it distracting to me about which direction the Falcon is flying. I think it works great already.

I didn't think it was possible, but this thread just got a lot more dorky.

The "dish" in the upper right is the Star Trek Federation Space dock.

I never realised that the Trade Federation ships were that huge, you could fit about seven Star Destroyers in that thing, going by the cockpits the AT-AT and the Imperial Shuttle seem way off.

Jumping back to a (possibly already solved) issue.  I remember when we were discussing having Ian McDiarmid do the original hologram dialog, people said it couldn't be done 100% because Ian never ever says "Luke".  Was this ever solved?

I have the episode 3 soundtrack with a bonus disc of Ian McDiarmid introducing music videos and in it he says Luke at least once. I couldn't find my cd in my apartment, but I found it on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuZtm6zGgCA

he says "Luke" about 46 seconds in.

It's not so much a problem of having Ian say "Luke," as we knew about that disc...it's the inflection. When talking to Vader, the Emperor's voice is deep and gravelly. When Ian says it those two times you linked to, it's not the same. And I don't see how they could possibly be fixed to sound right. Even if it could get close, I think it would still sound off and stick out too much. Know what I mean?

I don't think those are accurate.

Remember how big a Naboo Starfighter is?  With Jake Lloyd sitting inside?  Compare that to the size of the Trade Federation ship's docking bay.

Now think of how big the Tantive IV is.  And compare that to a Star Destroyer's docking bay.

Like I said, I don't think that image is accurate.

and their is no defenitive size for either of the death stars. I just think as long as they all look huge nobody will care

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Er... size of a small moon. Isn't that enough? Lol.

It's good enough fer me. But some people probably pause the movies and pull out a ruler LOL. I dont really think the ships need to be exactly the size wookieepedia say they are. Just keep em as is.

Nice ship comparisons there.  I assume the Blockade Runner in the second picture is meant to be 150m, not 120 as stated :)

Hi, Mr. Adywan, as you can see I've never posted in this forum but I visit this tread quite often so as many other people I'm anxiously waiting the release of Episode V Revisited. First of all, I'd like to congratulate you for your terrific work with Episode IV, to me it IS the definitive version of the classsic.

Recently I watched Yoda's second sneak peek, where he's digitally enhanced... I'm very impressed. Having said that, I still have two suggestions... the first is that he needs to blink more; I mean, those little details you've added really make the difference between a nice puppet and a believable character but the pace needs to be faster; and second, he also needs to look forward or at least not looking squint.

Thanks for your work, Mr. Adywan, every single fan around the world now owes you one.

Greetings from México.

I have not seen adywans vid of the enhanced yoda and this thread has become to big to skim though the countless posts. But when luke is running and yoda is talking yoda basically looks like a backpack just no movement at all has anything been done to make yoda look more alive.
