I'll take a guess. The purist edition was actually only purist in the audio sense. All the major sound/dialog changes were reverted to their original versions. So either the purist was a prototype for the ANH AVCHD version's audio, or it was an attempt to please someone who complained heavily about the alteration of the original soundtrack.

IT would make it more powerful if we saw the characters mourning his death a bit or mentioning it, but there will be none of that. They will be all celebrating. The main difference is we will see the falcon blow up with the death star.

 

He did he do a purist version of ANH which nothing majorly changed except some dialogue moved and music changed, and bit of space battle. Were talking a death here. It's no small change.

But I guess I have to regress to the same ol' said many times over "it's his edit" stuff. No offense intended. I just want the story left alone. But yet I want the effects corrections too.

......Anyway. Guys, RotJ:R is ages away. Chill out and focus on one thing at a time.

(Who knows! Maybe we'll get lucky. Perhaps while Adywan is working on unbuttoning Lando's shirt he'll remember how sexy a character he is and decide to keep him alive!)

Okay. This whole "it's a long ways off, there's no point in talking about it yet" is getting REALLY old.

This isn't a situation for us as observers and advisors where we're stuck with having to cross whatever bridge when we come to it. We're in the cool seats of being able to talk about any film in the saga, and what we believe needs changed. It's irrelevant how far off it is.

Talk about it all you want. Just not in this thread. This thread is for Empire Strikes Back: Revisited. Adywan shouldn't have to wade through 20 posts about ROTJ to find the one important post about an ESB continuity error, and it's also unfair to those people who bring up good points that get lost in the midst of an off-topic discussion.

Agreed. Although I'm guilty of it myself. :)

I'm still wondering if anyone has further thoughts on the amount of time that elapses between the Falcon's landing and eventual escape from Bespin.

I think it would be moot.  Cloud City is free floating and could orbit with or against the planets orbit.

Yeah killing off Lando and the FALCON would be like raping my childhood. I remember always cheering (still do :))when when they made it just in time and Nien Numb's classic laugh :)  It's enough that Yoda and Anakin dies. 

And IF the Falcon is destroyed there should defenitly be some sort of reaction from Han Solo and the others ,which would be pretty hard to pull off. lol

But as we said before this is your version ady so just do what you feel is right :)

but a purist version of ROTJ:R with no major story changes would be higly appreciated :)

I've always thought that it would be interesting to see an bubbly acidic froth come out of the mynock's mouth, making the mynock a serious threat and not just an inconvenience.

I always thought that Han and Co. spent the night, and the Leia scene was essentially the next morning.  Remember, this is also coinciding with Luke and his training, AND Luke has to pick them up, deal with Yoda and Dead Ben and then fly all the way over to Bespin... hell, I'm sure the walkthrough of Bespin from the top level to the lower carbonite levels took an hour or two alone; he wasn't exactly jumping down stairways to get to Vader...

Problem is, I recently talked about ROTS in the Prequel Radical Redux thread and people want to say how pointless it is because it's so far off. Who cares? let people talk about whatever film they want to as long as it is in the appropriate thread.
