Ok, so I posted this in my edit thread (since it's a part of my fanedits of EP2/EP3), but since this thread is about changing the fundamental nature of the Prequels, I thought it'd be a good idea to post this concept for the Count Dooku character:

- turn Dooku from an evil Sith Lord into a rebel Jedi fighting against the Republic to bring down the mysterious Darth Sidious.

There is a lot to like here, while some people just don't like purple lightsabres, it creates the impression that before going off the rails (and Sith or not this Dooku is off the rails, he's killing Jedi when he doesn't need to, he could get into his ship with Obi-Wan and Anakin disabled with ease but goes in for the kill giving Anakin a chance to keep the duel going) Dooku held the same position on the council that Mace does.

When Anakin executes Dooku instead of securing his arrest he steps over the same line (not yet a Sith but no longer true to the precepts of the Jedi Order).

It's much more subtle than just having him a Sith Lord (though I could still see if Anakin didn't go to plan Palpatine would continue to work on him, thirteen years is a long time without a direct apprentice).

It would be nice to add this to the idea expressed some pages back of introducing Dooku as an outsider at the funeral of Qui-Gon (perhaps if he hadn't died at that point he might have joined Dooku or brought him back into the fold).
