^^^I agree.

Somebody should come up with a structure.  An episode template...  Then we need to start collectively splitting the movies into "episodes".

I like the NuGalactica template.

Previously on...

Basic intro credit (which could be "A Long Time Ago" over a few shots from the whole sage of a mythological bent,"In A Galaxy Far Far Away" followed by a few shots from the whole saga of a science fiction bent).

Opening coda.

Main opening titles (followed by flashing out of context scenes from the coming episode).

Act 1 leading to a mini cliffhanger, ending with a advert break (eg for part one of TPM it could end with the Jedi being trapped in a room filling with gas).

Then three more longer acts also leading to a mini cliff hanger and a break.

Finally act five also ending on a cliff hanger followed by the end titles and a next week trail.

Gerry Anderson used a similar format in all of his shows and Farscape used to follow much the same line too.

I already mentioned in the accompanying thread at FE that I'm going to work on that over the weekend.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I felt the urge to give some opening credits a try.  It still needs some tweaks, and it may not be what everyone was thinking of, but I kinda like it.  :)

I stuck to just Ep3, thinking along the lines of each film being a season and each season having it's own variation of the opening.

Also, not all credits are in place for obvious reasons.   I built in space for specific episode credits...okay, so most of the 'written by' and 'directed by' credits will be the same, but the name of the faneditor will change.  :)

And yeah, as has been noted by Boon...it's a little long.  I guess I like old school '80s credits.  Boy did those things just go on and on.  ;)

Here's my (very rough) spin on the opening credits I whipped up real quick...it's shorter, and it's more in the style of a modern American prime-time TV drama.  Totally different take on it than Uncanny's.  I love his, but it's just another option for you guys to consider.  :)

A lovely job but it would make more sense to do a pansaga title sequence. Remember there is only enough footage in each film to get about three episodes of the series (maybe less) so you should be looking at something a little bit more spread out and a little less spoilerific. Something like : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgBNBDOy6B4&feature=related

If the titles are to be episode specific (television not film) you can't get better than pinching from here, would you dare turn over when you know this stuff is going to happen at some point in the episode?

It's a little modern for Star Wars. Aside from Battlestar, most of the old scifi series haven't deviated much from their roots. Regardless of how you cut the video, we need some authentic excerpts from the score.

Look at Stargate in the '90s -

Look at Stargate now -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYS0EVZJQMU

Here's what they were doing in the '70s, in the time of the originals.

Classic Galactica - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6d89RYN6gwI

and Buck Rogers - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=663313548897022933

Take notes - it's always upbeat and setting up some kind of adventure and action.

Here's another example of what a hokey fantasy show was like a few years ago (note the narration style for the recap at the beginning - not today's hoarse whispering, but the in-your-face, cranked up to 11 style).

I was just saying because yours and Antman's had similar ideas.

Wish I could make videos so I could just show my ideas on the same level, you know?

Both of those were pretty slick, ID and UA.  Most impressive.

Hey, believe it or not I've already been working on a project like this!  I've spent the last little while splitting the prequel trilogy up into a miniseries.  Currently my idea has been to have it be a trilogy of mini-series's (is that a word?).   My episode structure currently sits like this:

Season 1: The Phantom Menace

Episode I.I: The Gathering Storm (The whole Naboo opening right up till they escape with Amidala)

Episode I.II: Stranded (All of Tatooine including the Pod Race, Darth Maul has been removed for pacing)  I've also considered calling this one "The Great Pod Race"

Episode I.III: Change of the Gaurd (Coruscant right up until they land on Naboo and meet with Gungans, setting up for the big finale)

Episode I.IV: The Battle of Naboo (Title explains it all.  Removed parade ending as I felt the darker ending set up the next season best)

Season 2: Attack of the Clones

Episode II.I: The Senator's Peril (Starts at beginning of Ep II and runs until Anikan and Obi Wan tell the counsil about the Bounty hunter)

Episode II.II: Discovery on Kamino (Focus' on Kamino and Anikan and Padme' on Naboo.  Ends at Jango fight)

Episode II.III: The Journey Home (Focus' on the Death of Anikan's mom and Obi Wan's capture.  Ends when Anikan rush's to rescue)

Episode II.IV: Rescue on Geonosis (Starts with Anikan Landing on Geonosis, ends at "begun, the clone wars have")

Episode II.V: The Sith Witch (Clone wars Vol. 1 compressed into 22 min.  Removed everything not relating to Anikan)

Season 3: Revenge of the Sith

Episode III.I:  Untitled (Clone Wars Animated vol. 2 starts with Greivous intro from vol. 1 and ends at Dooku Greivous training scene)

Episode III.II: Untitled (Clone Wars Animated vol. 2 starts where last left off, ends at end of vol. 2 with Palpitine's capture

Episode III.III: Untitled (Start of EpIII right up maybe were on wrong side scene.)

Episode III.IV: Untitled (Focus on the Fall of the Jedi, haven't selected end for this one)

Episode III.V: Untitled (Rest of EpIII, again, haven't dealt with this one yet.)

At this point Season 1 is about 95% done, Season 2 is about 70% done, and Season 3 is about 30% done.  I'll upload the first episode onto Google video in the next day or so as a pilot so you guys can let me know what you think of the structure.  I have no plans at all of doing the OT though, so if someone is interested in doing that alongside me let me know!

Also, is your still with me after all that, my old thread was "Prequel Trilogy Sagafied".  The thread is basically dead as the project has changed however, I did upload some footage on that thread that is still active which you can find HERE.  Its the first 15 min of Season 3 Episode III.III  The footage is hopelessly out of date, but it should give you some idea of my editing style and ideas.

Cheers!

Alright.  Took a few days longer than I hoped, but here it is!  At this point this is also the ONLY complete video I will be uploading onto this forum.  It is being shared as a "pilot" so that everyone can get an idea what has been done, but I will by no means be sharing the entire set on these forums.  Now that that is out of the way, enjoy!

Star Wars TV: Season I, Episode I

Let me know what you think.  I've been looking at some of the previous posts, and I like some of the intro's that have been posted, and I'm considering using something like that instead of having an opening crawl for each episode.

I love the new establishing shot for the boss nas speech. I like the cuts you did in the battle so some of the continuity errors are gone. The edit and the transition looks more like the OT which is good. Very good elimination of jarjar's silly moments.

I was impressed by the reversed - not reversed language of the gangans,Very nice touch and its believable and flawless.

Very subtle that boss nas talk to Jar Jar ;)

Very good addition of a part of the deleted scene of the jedi goes to the palace.

The only that bugged me was some music transitions and inserts and also the title of the crawl. It remind me some Terminator Comics

When the Ep II is coming out?

Thanks Vaderios.  I have to say I kind of agree with you about the title, but I was never able to come up with something else that wasn't boring or verbose. Also, I'm glad to hear you like the Gungan's voices.  I was looking to the same with the Nemodians, but that proved to be impractical and next to impossible :(

As for the audio transitions/substitutions are there any specific ones that jump out?  There are a couple I still wan't to go back and fix (especially seeing as the audio for "he will find your lost ship" apparently got lost during encoding).

For example when the jedi goes to Otto gunga or whatever they called, the choir are messed up a bit. I know you may say that cause a more dreamy feeling. I accept that.

Also when the jedi go and rescue the queen. You were use the Maul vs Qui gon duel theme. It cuted a bit weird.

Yeah the gungun voices are veeery impressive!

I dont think that the Viceroy and the other dude need to changed. You kept a good balance betwin english and alien voices.

It would be a bit odd to see all the time subtitles ;)

Keep it up

love it ID! im prefering the retro music to the coldplay, i think old is the way to go. how about old adverts too? watching the holiday special on google video there are the old adverts, which are awesomely laughable.

Alright, so I have gone back and fixed the music qeues you pointed out, and touched up a couple of other edits.  I'm not going to re-upload it as the changes are too minor at this point.  As for when the second episode will be out, well I'm not sure how I'm going to be releasing it at the moment, but I'm just finishing sound mixing on it right now, so hopefully within the next week.

Has anyone got any further with this as it seems like a whole lot of fun?

I know the idea was posted onto other sites but there seems to be no moves here.

The eighties titles are a great laugh.

Well, my project that I mentioned earlier in the thread is still alive (though it's true, I've been posting no updates).  For those interested the progress on each of the films into a continuous TV series is as follows:

Episode I - 98% (need to make proper DVD)

Episode II - 90% (need to fix a few FX gaffs)

Clone Wars Vol. 1 - 100%

Clone Wars Vol. 2 - 90% (need to make opening crawls)

Episode III - 50% (still doing basic editing)

So at this point things are getting fairly close.  I'm not going to release anything new at the moment however.  I'm waiting till pretty much everything is done and I hope to start releasing them once a week on either YouTube or GoogleVideo.  After that I'll try likely put a proper DVD release out for the general public.
