You are absolutely right Vaderios, and I am deeply sorry...you guys really burned through the weekend! I was catching up with everything and though between my posts there would be others when I came here to page 303 turns out I have 5 in a row, I'm sorry. One last thing I have to say as others have passed by the topic on why GL didn't make these chenges when he released SE? because he know he doesn't have to invest much anymore to have a hit with SW, he doesn't care anymore, want proof? look at the PT special features discs, he appears as if he wasn't really thinking it through with the same intensity he had when he was younger....

Again sorry for all the posting!

Actually, I think there was a lot of thought put into the PT bonus discs...from a marketing perspective, anyway.

The only commentary on the deleted scenes was how it was such a good decision to delete them.  All the bits on the FX show how everything went perfect the first time...no mistakes whatsoever.  All the production sketches and designs were only the ones that most closely resembled the final versions, nothing of the alternate or deleted ideas, or very little at best.

If that doesn't smack of incredible levels of self-satisfaction and egotism, nothing does.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Hey Ady, I know you've done some work to try and help improve the realism of the Tauntauns. The other day I stumbled upon this video and was really impressed with the fluidity of his work. I decided to look around and found a video that explains some of his process. Thought you might be interested. =)

It is DI, don't worry, let's move on...... I've noticed much interest has gone to either Cloud City of Hoth. No Dagobah suggestions....is it perfect as it is? I can only remember vague things....breathing life into Yoda would be nice, CG maybe? [please don't fire your turbolasers at me!]

hmmm, if there are larger star wars figures out there of a good enough quality, i wonder if this technology could be used to make extra snow troopers and stop motion battledroids?

Thats a dark road your suggesting...  first we replace a couple characters, add a few more tauntauns, next thing you know, full stop motion sequels.  Episodes 7-9 could all be action figures!!!!! *evil laugh*

erm.  Sorry, just had to get that out.  But joking aside, thats actually a pretty good idea.

I'd like to see a few snow speederbikes, I think you could pull those off in the distance with action figures.

^ I don't think speederbikes would make for a logical addition to the Battle of Hoth.  Their use makes sense in ROTJ because, given the density of the forest, they are the only real means of transportation (aside from the AT-STs).  On Hoth, however, any Imperial trooper riding a bike would be an easy target for the rebels.  The idea for the Empire here isn't speed, it's defensibility while making a frontal assault (which is where the AT-ATs, with their impenetrable armour, comes in).

I'm not sure if logic can be brought into play here.

What's the logic of putting speeder bikes in an environment full of hard obstacles that are almost impossible to avoid travelling at high speed (like say...a forest moon)?

What's the logic of mounting an assault using walking attack vehicles that can be brought to the ground by unstable ground conditions (like say...a forest moon)?

That said, speeder bikes on Hoth aren't something I really feel the need to see, though it would be nice to have more AT-STs on that hard stable frozen plain (without logs).

Hey all,

Been away for awhile. Took me forever to catch up 14 pages of posts.

Also, I had the freezing problem on page 300.

I'd like to thank Ady for posting and clearing up some issues about his ideas behind the prequels. If you think the debates abut ESB:R have been heated just wait till we all start talking about TPM, AOTC, and ROTS!!!

The issue about the PT is that there are so many viewponts that people take. Be it from the midichlorian explaation, Jar-Jar, Dialogue, Threepio being made by Anakin, the virgin birth. etc.... People have so many ideas about the way it should have been.

With the PT:R some of us will agree with the changes Ady makes and some of us won't.

Michael Nichols (The Phantom Editor) did a fabulous job on TPM and AOTC. The movies are better by just editing them. if you haven't seen them, check them out and be sure to watch them with commentary. Nichols explanations for his changes are well thought out and artilculated.

What I am most curious about is what changes Ady wishes to make to the PT story. Sure we can re-editit scenes so they are faster and cut dialogue. Where the most contentioun will come from is the story line changes. I think the OT  is pretty straight forward in what needs to be upgraded and changed. The PT is where Ady's skill will be tested.

PS any word  on when the Blu-Rays will be released?

Please can we not talk about PT:R  or ANH:R or ROTJ:R here unless it is relevant to ESB:R directly.

There are threads where those subjects can be talked about without clogging this thread up and Adywan has already asked us to stop.

If it helps I'm going to start a fan edit debate thread to try and direct some of the various posts debating the values and limits of fan-editing away from those and these threads as this debating aspect seems to be popping up all over the place and is clearly something some people want to discuss and need a forum for. http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/The-Star-Wars-Fan-Edit-Great-Debate-Thread/topic/10269/

But small infractions aside it's always best to remember the topic title.

WHA?!?!?!

So it makes more sense to have speeder bikes in a dense forest of huge trees that you can run into and kill yourself in less than 10 seconds from starting your bike, as opposed to a snow planet that has nice flat fields to fly around it without running into anything (other than the falling AT-ATs and snowspeeders).  Speeder bikes are also fast and extremely small, making them HARDER targets than the large and slow AT-ATs, which would be a priority to destroy more than speeder bikes.

Granted, I don't think I would want to see speeder bikes just because it could clutter things up (though if someone could do a test to show what it could look like...).  I still like the earlier idea of having snow troopers bailing out of the AT-AT that falls down from Wedge's cable though, as well as maybe showing them repelling out the side of an AT-AT in a later shot (maybe) or debarking in some fashion.

EDIT- looks like I got beat to the punch again.

bear in mind that those piloting the speeder bikes would normally cruise around at a moderate pace easily minding their surroundings. once the Rebels showed up they had to get out of there fast and try alerting the base (although Leia jammed their comlinks by pressing something)

So Leia knows how to operate an Imperial speeder bike more than a soldier who is professionally trained to use one... and on that planet?  Because I'm sure they had to have had a boot camp to acclimate troops stationed there.

And she's able to jam ALL OF THEM?  And it didn't seem they were driving moderately (unless you can moderately drive 100 miles per hour, which I occasionally do on business trips).

Don't take it as me picking on you, Ozone.  It's just that.... JEDI is silly.

In an effort to keep us all sane and civil to one another can we please drop all references to PT in this thread. Let us talk about the glory that is The Empire Strikes Back.

Adywan, not sure if you saw this suggestion before... At the very end of the Luke vs Vader duel Vader's de-ignition of his lightsaber is not seen on screen and the sound of it is very subdued. Could you make the sound much more pronounced?

My two cents...

yeah i don't get how she jammed all their comlinks. makes for a nice chase sequence though

i meant that if they weren't being chased they would drive around more slowly... mechanical walkers would be too slow. bikes glide over the shrubbery

it makes perfect sense to use that mode of transportation in the forests.

Not to mention there is that shot in the same scene where the saber looks way too short before he turns it off.

can people stop asking people to stop telling people to stop talking about the PT.

Ady said long time ago that he fixed the sound so it more clear and loud.

Also where the saber is too short?

We've had most of the Dagobah discussion already.  And if you check out the YODA TWEAKED video on the first page, you'll see that Ady has already begun work on tweaking Yoda a bit.  Very cool stuff.

Dagobah, remove all the damn completely terran frigging lizards. Or give 'em a non-terran stripe of color or something to make me feel Im not in the lizard house at the San Diego Zoo

Sith eyes? (it is a nightmare domain of the dark side and it would make them look more alien).

That's given me an idea which I might do, in The Last Temptation of Christ, Satan appears as animals that have the voices of Jesus' friends.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXuRaxTavBM

Having the cave as a domain of the dark side it might be fun to do an edit where the memories of Sith Lords past and present hang around in the place.

It could be edited in such a way that it looks almost like the lizards and snakes are talking in the voices of Maul, Dooku, Palpatine and the like (little red and black snake for Maul).

I'm not suggesting it for ESB:R but it might make for an interesting scene.

Hey, thanks doubleofive, I checked the video, and I hardly noticed anything new (that could be good I guess), it looks good though....but I might be getting my impression solely on the color correction improvement. Thanks for the post
