As far as seeing the sabers illuminating, I think if that should be done for just the darkest scenes. Like in the Carbonite Freezing chamber room, being the darkest. No need to worry about laser bolts from the guns because those are mostly in well lit enviroments and they quickly go by, unlike the lightsabers which have a steady glow. It doesn't have to be perfect, but some illumination in those darkest scenes would be very effective. Maybe experiment with it, see what happens. Just a thought.

OK I must say the interactive lighting off of the lightsabers is a fantastic idea. I love the look in the rough clip that was posted. (Besides, you ever activate a force fx lightsaber in a dark room?) I just love, love, love the idea. I wouldnt even care if it was missing from Vader in Jedi in the scenes you were talking about. becuase ummmm Vader is so evil his helmet resists light? Yeah thats it.

as far as the continuity with windows and hallways... I love the SE flyby and it seems to fix these continuity "errors" would take a tremendous amount of work. I didnt even notice them to be honest. I dont think the fix is necessary.

Thats the one thing about these boards...you all point out shit I havent noticed for 30 years. Please stop that now, lol!

My three cents... (I had to raise the price of my two cents becuase of the economy)

Wow, quite an introduction to the board, Husker! Welcome to the world of the posting. ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if someone (vaderios? heh heh) would at least try to do something with your 3D models...which look very nice, by the way.

Thanks man!

Hate to say all those (and many, many other) artsy thngs i used to do are pretty much in the past now due to lack of time.

And thanks for welcomng me lol! This is the first SW forum i post in since my days in the OS....a long time ago.

Oh wow! welcome from me too. I think we can have some interesting ideas executed with your model... :)

I will PM the details

Nice to have you on board Husker hope you lend your hand to rolling the harder Episode 6 (how am going to cope now that show has finished ++sob++?).

Ditto to that on both notes. : )

I was wondering that as well...Spike is done with SW?  Perfect timing...just as I finally get my first HDTV...

My attitude to the glow effects is that if it works why not do it?

There could be many reasons why the effect doesn't work on Vader so adding a few here and there where it adds something artistically to the non-masked characters makes sense to me.

There aren't that many shots where it would have added anything to ANH anyway (the Death Star corridor was too light and Luke on the Falcon and in Ben's hut weren't combat situations so nothing artistic would have been added to the scene by adding the glow, the only scene where it might have added something was in the Cantina scene) so not having it in ANH:R isn't really a problem for me.

The glow on Luke with Vader baring down on him adds to the sense of peril, so it does something artistically, a glare on Luke trying out his sabre for the first time doesn't really add much.

Though I appreciate it's more work and as always it's Ady's edit so the decisions are all his to make.

Well Ady's a continuity freak after all. :)  If it's going to happen in one shot and not in another I feel that a lot of us wouldn't mind, but it may indeed drive Ady more crazy than he already is!  As I've said already, it's never been there before, so I won't mind if it's not there after this edit is finished.

It's been a while since I've watched the prequels, but I believe the only scene where they dynamically reflect is the duel at the end of AotC, correct?

O.T. or No T., baby!

Easy for you to say, you're not the one who is spending his every waking hour working to get this edit done. If the glow effect is so important you could always do it yourself.

hi, i have been following these forums for a few years, but never felt that i had anything to really bring so never made an account. i have followed ANH:R from the beginning and have been gladly sharing it amongst peers since the first release. i regularly check these boards on a daily basis, and find great pleasure in reading everyones different perspectives and viewpoints now my point that i really feel needs to be made and feel reluctant to make but it makes me SO angry.

vbangle, please oh please stop nitpicking at peoples posts, and have an original thought for once. all you seem to bring to these boards is a bad 'i told you so' attitude and never seem to have any original thoughts or ideas. if you are going to just take a stab at randomers then at least back it up without seeming to just argue for the stronger opinion without a thought.

sorry for the negative opening to here, i hope to bring more discussion here in future posts!:)

ps, thanks ady for giving me many a good viewing of ANH:R, it has really opened my eyes and i look forward to the release of ESB:R! (and bingowings + angel, your mockups are always a pleasure!

Welcome from beyond the shadows frank.

vbangle like all of us here contributes and that alone is a positive that outways any misunderstandings that people might accidentally wander into on boards like this.

Everyone on here knows how much work Ady is putting into these projects (just as all of the editors on here do, editing generally is hard graft and projects like these even more so) but surely the point of posting opinions and ideas is to help each other make our projects as good as they can be (not to obstruct people or put them down and off from editing or contributing intellectually).

If we don't give our ideas and opinions they stay stuck in our skulls where they are no use to anyone.

An idea or an opinion is not a demand that a particular editor does something (not from this side of my computer screen anyway).

It's a donation of time and effort to a cause that the contributor feels is worthy of the effort.

Many of the changes that Ady has made came from suggestions that have been made here (some of which Ady changed his mind about after initially feeling that he wouldn't do it)and the same goes for other editors here.

As long as suggestions and opinions are constructive and polite, even if they aren't taken up, they are better out in the wild where someone might make use of them than hidden in the back of someone's mind.

I think you misunderstood my tone. I was not trying to be overly critical of your suggestion. I understand what you were saying. I enjoy your posts and viewpoints. Was just having a discussion.

I love how others who are OT virgins to this forum can criticize others or spam a thread with little or no reaction by anybody, I make a critique by expressing MY OPINION and its spurs some idiot who has NEVER contributed anything to this board ever to post a bitch.....LAME.

Seeing as my understanding of the effort involved and that this is Ady's project was impllicit in my post and that I placed no great importance (only possible merit) to the idea (which was not my own) it's easy to see how your tone might be misconstrued.

The use of un-diplomatic phrases like bitch, lame, idiot and referring to new contributers as mere OT virgins can only lead to a continued misreading of your intensions.

If you moderate your choice of words I'm sure everyone will get along with you just fine and new comers will be less likely to jump to (unfounded) conclusions about you and more likely to contribute something of a Star Wars nature to their posts.

This is not a suggestion and Adywan doesn't have to do this.

I did a little re-editing to the scene in Empire where Luke's X-wing is sinking.  Besides an attempt at "color correcting," I made it so that Luke successfully lifts his X-Wing from the swamp.

Here is the actual video:

^ Interesting edit - and watching that video reminded me of a suggestion I raised many moons ago, but am not too sure what (if anything) is being done about it: is Ady planning on adjusting the motion of the nose of the X-Wing as it comes down to rest on the ground in this sequence? To make it looks less plastic-y and model-y, and more like a heavy spacecraft? Maybe if the nose-tip buckled, slightly, when it first touches down, for example?

First off, let me just say...thank you :)

Second, I would think that the marshness of Dagobah's swamplands would sorta coushin the X-Wing when it sets down after being lifted from the swamp water.  But that's just my opinion.

That clip works really well! i personally don't think the film needs it, but as an edit its great. Perhaps it would be good if someone was to make a condensed or alternative ESB.

Is Luke with his jacket off, then later on again a continuity error? or is there time for him to put the jacket on again in the actual film. (I don't have ESB to hand to check at the current moment!)

you see him put his jacket on afterwards. if you are short of a film, you can find them on youtube.

i don't want to get fire-balled if this has been mentioned already, but it would be interesting to see yodas eyes look around a bit more, i find them quite static. mainly just in his little speech where he is animated quite alot.

the yoda clip from ady from waay back is stunning, and i like the little clip from G E PREDATOR too, i agree with frank, it would be good in an alternative ESB adition, maybe like an infinities version.

(ps, i hope this doesn't linger, but if you have a beef with a member, PM him/her, it leaves a horrible taste on a thread otherwise, no offense intended to any party)

Yoda's eyes should fixed!

I know ady will do his best on it.

In the prequels and CW Series we see R2 use his rockets which we didnt at all in the originals. Could R2 use his rockets to get into the X-Wing when Luke is on Dagobah when Luke leaves to help Leia and Han? As we saw on ANH, it seemed liked a big production to get the droids in the ship. But then in ESB there isnt anyway for him to get in.

I know this was breifly covered a few pages back but I though showing R2 boosting his way into the X-Wing and/or boosting his way out on Cloud City.

What I think you mean by the nose buckling would actually be the nose just dipping and recovering a bit via some kind of shock-absorber reaction of the front landing gear as the ship becomes re-affected by gravity as Yoda lowers it to the ground.  When a vehicle "buckles", it's actual physical damage from an impact of some kind, like in a car crash, which isn't what's happening here.

Using rockets right next to a vehicle in the middle of a swamp, might turn out to be explosive.

If R2's rockets were to make a OT appearence it makes more sense to me that he would use it to escape Jabba's barge (and an awful slapstick gag) in ROTJ.

I dont see why it would be explosive as Ive seen in the CW series R2 boost his way into Anakins fighter. The swamp wouldnt be combustible either as its mostly muddy water.

An ideal medium for swamp gas.
