I have always found the original line "We have a new enemy, Luke Skywalker" and the new one "We have a new enemy, the young rebel that destroyed the Death Star. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker" really funny.
It is well known that Empire Strikes Back takes place 3 years after ANH (according to the ever changing statements of GL). What is for certain is that a some time has passed. However, the emporer decides to come in 1/2 way through the second movie and explains that they have this "NEW" enemy. Which we as the audience have known for 1 1/2 movies.
Don't you think it would have happened a something more like this?
The Death star is blown up. Vader flies back to Coruscant in his busted up ship, lands, marches over to the Emporer, and the Emporer says "WTF?" Vader explains some stuff... then the Emporer says... " We have a new enemy blah blah". Then the second movie starts.
But instead it happens something like this.
Vader is out galavanting around the galaxy smashing up his star destroyers in an asteroid field. , the emporer gets back to his office after a nice long Gungan hunting Safari on naboo. He sits down and starts reading over the HUGE pile of letters and memos in his inbox. As he is sipping on his freshly brewed java juice, He comes across the one that says "Luke Skywalker, a whiny half trained jedi farm boy has blown up death star." The Emporer does a spit take. Then yells at his secretary to get Vader on the line. Piett then gets a signal and runs over to Vader saying "the emporer demands that you make contact with him" and the rest is history.
Just a bit funny. IMO.
