Looks like the prequels are not aging well. — Page 6

Very funny review. Some really good observations.

He is very correct about Vader's meeting with Obi-Wan in Star Wars not meshing with the way Obi-Wan left himn to die. He should have responded more along the lines of, "Finally we meet again, you son of a bitch! Now you are going to pay for amputating my remaining three limbs and leaving me to slowly burn to death, which thankfully took long enough that the newly self appointed Emperor was able to travel all the way from Corescant to Mustafar and save me before I completely burnt to death or even died of shock. Now, prepare to die... D'aaah'AM, man! How the hell did you age so quickly?"

That has always been incredibly dumb that the Yoda/Palps fight/dance/comedy sketch, whatever it was suppose to be was going on at the same time as the Ani/Obi duel, and yet Palps still makes it there in time to save Anakin, and to walk in a slow hip Emperor-like stride taking his sweet time to walk over to him.

People who defend this stuff so strongly are in need of some self evaluation. If you like them and accept them for their flaws, that is one thing, but there are some out there who literally think ROTS is one of the finest films to hit cinemas in their lifetime.

LOl, this video is probably really lame, but at the moment I am mixing youtube and alchohol, a truely deadly combination, and it is cracking me up. In fact, after repeated viewings, I think it may just be one of the most profound things to ever hit the internet. Works better than the real thing IMHO.

one thing about confusedMatthew:

he always seems to equate "Bitchiness" with "Evil". sure, in case of the "prequels", he is right, but he also applied that logic with "The Lion King". as you can clearly see, Anakin and Simba are completely differant entities.

the other thing I disagree with him about is him saying killing the sandpeople was no differant than killing the Jedi Children.

killing the sand people was insane rage over the death of his mother, whilst killing the Jedi children was pre-meditated, cold-blooded murder.

otherwise, he is 99.9% spot on about what's wrong with the "prequels".

Heh, I loved that.  I think I just became a follower of confused matthew, although it once again solidifies my point of view that anyone who comments on youtube is an asinine, illiterate idiot who deserves to be sodomized with sandpaper.

Other than that, I've been watching his videos all night.  Apparently I, unlike the sandpaper-festish cretins on youtube, have a sense of humor because I found his videos delightful, including his disaparaging videos for The Lion King and Back to the Future Part II, two movies I love.

Fun times... ^_^

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I'm not 100% sure I agree. They're celebrating, and really happy, but they celebrated and were happy at the end of 'Star Wars' also.

The celebration at the end of Star Wars was of a different kind with a different tone. The ROTJ celebration was an end-of-the-war it's-all-over we-don't-have-to-worry-about-the-future kind of celebration.

In other words, it was just like an Obama supporter's "Yes We Did!" victory party. The next day they wake up, take a look around, down a few pills for their hang over, and say, "What the fu... the stock market is still down? I don't get it? What went wrong?" Only in this case, they wake up next morning, down a few pills for there hang over, and realize, "My goodness, seems the Empire is still around! What do ya have to do to get rid of a damn Empire around here?"

I think the new ending theme gives a sense of finality while the yub nub makes it sound as if it's just one more chapter finished. Anyways, on one of the dvd commentaries (III maybe?) , Lucas states the empire can only be defeated when both sith are killed off. Which happens at the end of Jedi. So Jedi may have been thought of as just another chapter at one point but Lucas decided that he wanted to wrap it up with the third ot movie.

About the Obama thing. Anyone see the Onion video describing just that, supporters the day after.

Judging by the novelization's version of things I think Lucas intended it to be the ending of the empire back in 83. Being open to having more films set after ROTJ doesn't necessarily mean planning to keep the empire alive after ROTJ. If I remember rightly, there was talk about the sequel trilogy being about ruling and politics and compromises, so it could have been about buildling the new republic rather than fighting the empire.

Also re the Obama celebration, in a celebration in the real world pepple can have a certain idea that the struggle is over when they celebrate and they can be wrong (though actually the struggle to elect Obama WAS over). But in the Star Wars OT you get what it says on the tin. The ROTJ OOT celebration gave the message that the war was over and I think it makes sense to take it at face value.
