1st image: i changed the clouds so the light focus point luke in the antenna.

2st: image Bespin seems to change colors...

I took some of planet's detail from vader's arrival to executor so the planet isn't total black. also i thought the lens flare is a bit odd.

Very cool vaderios. As you said, the 1st one brings more attention to Luke and helps you see him better and the last one you can see more detail of the planet.

Yes its just before Han enters the command center. It was shown on the 1997 theatrical release but removed on the VHS release.

Mmmm.   Not to sound doubtful, but the "I saw it once but it was cut out on the VHS/DVD" memory phenomenon seems to happen a lot in the SW community.

It wasnt just me but a group of us that went and noticed we had never seen that shot before but when the VHS came out it wasnt on it.

I don't think it's supposed to be a lens flare but something like the 'diamond ring' solar eclipse phenomenon.

Ah very good! I was looking something like this. I added a lens to add some color and fix the poor current one.

Also just a thought:

Why the falcon is heading upwards when the hyperdrive is active again? Perhaps they tried to achieve the boost.

But what if the camera has a more straight angle?

there was only ever one version of the 1997 theatrical SE which all prints were taken from. the VHS & laserdisc were exactly the same as the theatrical release as they were taken from those prints. there was never an extra shot added before han enters the command centre. there was a bootleg VHS copy of ESB SE floating around which was filmed in the cinema and there was no extra shots. it was exactly the same as the VHS which is why i never kept it.  This is the same type of thing that happened with ANH when people swear that they saw Luke miss with the grappling hook and that the Luke & Biggs scene was shown in theatres. memory is a funny thing.

Some Canadian theatrical prints of the 1997 "Special Edition" contained an added scene just before Han is shown entering the command centre on Hoth. The shot is inside the command centre and focusses on a "white C-3PO" using a penlight on a glass map. Then, the movie continues as normal and Han is shown entering the command centre. This scene was not present on the video release.

I googled it and found on IMDB that there was a shot before Han entered the command center and that this isnt just me and my 5 friends thinking we remembered something. Its true that there was another scene.

So this extra scene/ shot is in none of the DVD or laserdisc versions?

Don't believe everything you read on IMDB. Anyone can add so called facts on this site. they add them all the time and many have been proved wrong.

The reason why you haven't seen K-3PO before is that it is indeed cut from older videos... Because they are pan & scan, not widescreen! K-3PO has always been in the film.

Yeah, pan and scan probably accounts for a lot of people seeing things differently when they see widescreen.

Author
Time

I'll never understand why they invented the P&S, and why people like it.

Author
Time

what exactly is pan and scan? is it where a 4:3 ratio makes use of the 16:9 extra side bits by panning left and right?

Author
Time

Yeah, they fill the whole TV set with part of the picture (till 45% of the picture can be lost) and pan. Never seen P&S in Europe I think.

Author
Time

The P&S of Lawrence Of Arabia was hilarious.

There is a scene where one character is on one side of the screen and another is on the other side of the screen and a bottle on a table was in the middle.

In the P&S version all you see is the bottle.

How about The Pink Panther? At one point there's a title so wide they have to zoom out so you can see the widescreen bars.

Most videos were P&S everywhere. Widescreens were usually just "special collector's editions". Only last videos at the same time with DVDs videos were beginning to be widescreen, too. I haven't seen any P&S DVDs in Europe, though, unlike in the US they still sell P&S stuff (I think).

I like the new shot you created here.  I think if a lens flare is appropriate at any point in the movie, it would be this one.

Also, a few points:
(1) in the MF cockpit shot with Leia and Chewie, maybe you could do something with the Bespin underside so it doesn't look so flat (or make the sky/clouds lighter so it stands out better)
(2) Could you do some mock-ups to show something like 8 to 12 (or more, like an entire squadron of) TIEs following after the MF (maybe one shot underneath Bespin, one in planet orbit and a third by the side of the Executor)?

In an earlier post, I suggested that, with everyone definitely aboard the MF, Vader would have pulled all the stops out to capture them.  It would also help explain why the Executor couldn't lock onto the MF when it was right beside the ship (too many TIEs around it, not allowing the computer to lock on).

Shouldn't the stars be "streakier" (to match the front cockpit shots with the long star streaks)?

Ady, something else to look at where the mattes meet the set footage on the SD bridge. Can these be smoothed and blended more/better? Where Vader walks the floor looks white/light gray and it is darker where the matte begins on the floor. I have arrows pointing where the mattes and live action meet and could be blended better. Just a suggestion. Here is the still to look at.

"12 fighters against a millennium falcon?" I think the fighters lead the ship to Executor for the tractor beam not meant to destroy it :)
