GM (or anyone esle)

Do you know if anyone has done anything with the SOTE soundtrack?  I was listening to it a while ago and it isn't a bad little soundtrack.  The only thing missing was a proper ending credits.  Does anyone know if anyone has cobbled anything like this together?

You mean like this?

This is awesome, good work dude.

I will add this to the end of the OST in place of what is already there.

Just waiting on the ost's for episode 1,5,6 now and my collection wont be far off of being complete.

Your work is much appreciated guys.

Ah, perfect.  That is just as good as I was hoping it would be.

I apologize for my dissapearance...  I've been busy. I'm in the middle of moving. I would recommend speaking to ggctuk abuot getting his edit... it's a bit more up to date than mine and I havn't had the chance to correct mine yet or have a talk with him. If you can get a hold of him, maybe he'll be able to get you an edit similar to mine.

He did... I just spoke to him and it would seem he's had a hard drive crash... I know people out there have his sets but... suffice it to say... it doesn't look good

I get it, I can already hear you all

"You're my only hope" I get it... lol

I' can't promise much... I'm gonna see what I can do. The reason I've not wanted to release my sets lately is also to deal with the issue that we have a lot of new discoveries that I just havn't been aroudn for...so... I'm gonna try to redo my set. I've already begun work on Episode I.

I'm going to then forward the work to Ggctuk who knows things I don't, and ge this input...and in the end... I hope to ahve the best set out there.

I'm going to update a few tracks from Episode III as well with the newly realized material... and past a few tweaks here and there, The sets will be reuploaded...

I'm ... sorry again for the lack of time... life... you know? heh

Anyway... soon

Hey, if you redo your sets anyway you could make them gapless? As they now stand, there is a bit of overlap between tracks.

That is good news, GM.  I'll wait patiently.

overlap? gaplesS?

If I'm understanding what your asking, the answer is no. It only takes about 5 seconds to layer the tracks if that's wha tyou desire. My intention was to create a veritable resource of John Williams music... trying to track down and present it as recorded...all of it... endings and all... if in some cases, I can find a clean ending but no beginning to the next cue, I do my best... but I would recomend downloading something and just layering them if it bothers you tha tmuch.

sorry I meant that there is a few seconds of the same music between tracks, therefore, If I set iTunes to play one after another with no silence gap between the tracks, its not a smooth transition.

I'm sorry I don't quite follow... I think what you mean is what I'm takling about... how sometimes I don't have a clean ending or opening, sometimes a track will start with how one ends... not much I can do really... I try to add a couple seconds inbetween of dead air that would help but still...

I just mean that I'm not sure what I can do... I don't use iTunes... I abhore it

I downloaded Episode IV and Noticed that Episode V and VI were missing on your site GoodMusician.

I would like to hear them and see what fixes you made to the botched special edition cd releases, you know music missing on empire strikes back, and return of the jedi.  Sound channels reversed or poor mixing.

Return of the Jedi had a bad frequency response on the 2 CD edition i have read because of dnr.

To me Jedi was the biggest dissapointment out of all the 2 CD releases in 1997.   The sound quality for a score recorded in 1983 is just plain apalling, even 1977 star wars sounds better.  And Lapti Nek and Yub Nub were missing from the cds and replaced with jedi rocks and some new celebration music.

In my opinion i wish the scores for star wars and indiana jones were treated better with all the music presented and uncut.

Return of the Jedi's original session tapes were found and still have not been transfered and released to CD.

I hadn't heard if all of the session tapes for ROTJ had been found but I know that at the time of the SE's being made... they had no time for one, and for two had poor masters... and so what we got was a pretty sad set.

Not to mention they cut music no longer heard in the film like the original finale music and the Lapti Nek. THe music didn't fit for one, was no longer used for two, and couldn't be located for three...

My sets I hope improve upon this... I'm gonna push my luck and see if I can't upload them all back on the site agian.

TBH, it doesn't really bother me that much about the iTunes thing, and after all GM's going to be putting into these sets I'm sure that if you really want to tweak the transitions between tracks you could do it yourself...? :D

And I really can't wait for your uploads GM! And I know you already will do this, but please don't rush them on our accounts, I'd rather wait longer and get the 'best set out there' with cues from TFU and such added in.

And you truly are our only hope...Obi...Good Musician...Kenobi...(?!)

GM, a while back you mentioned that the 'Captured' insert in episode 2 was "much better now" due to new discoveries. Does this just mean its free of film sounds or expanded as you hypothesized long ago when speaking about the droid factory scene (and what music might have been meant to cover it)?

I have remastered Return of the Jedi, and so the other ones. I still don' t know about GM's ones, but I can tell you my Rotj had the congratulations of a couple of dudes around... I've restored the sound such as it is perhaps now the best of the whole bunch, despite some anavoidable but not disturbing faults (some rare crackles and hiss that may however be unoticed).

I plan to open a new topic to share my OT remastered scores... However RotJ has been uploaded yet. Just PM me.

@ GOODMUSICIAN : do you mind if I share my ANH remastered score, knowing that I borrowed you some tracks (for the uncut endings) + some of your extra tracks that I remastered too ? Thanks.

I'm sorry. What I mean is that since it is a musical score, tracks generally flow directly into one another to make the complete score of the movie. iTunes has a feature called "gapless playback" to make this work in which there is no pause between tracks. Your tracks, however, have a couple of seconds of the same music at the end of one track, and the beginning of the next. Therefore, if I enable gapless playback, I here the same few notes repeated over again when the next track starts. I guess what I'd like you to do is cut the tracks so that the next one picks up exactly where the last left off.

Ah, so you're saying that the beginning of, say, track 10 will repeat the end of track 9, preventing a more natural transition?

yes. That's what I mean

I have no idea what you mean with "they overlap", because as far as I can hear, each track is just fine. Can you give an example of a bad transition?

What exactly does "gapless mode" do?

I'm guessing it overlaps tracks, to hide the usual 2 silent seconds that are added to the beginning and end of mp3s.

Just get the flac versions and/or disable "gapless mode"
