The Imperial Space Academy part coming from the Radio Drama When Biggs mentioned he was going to Jump ship and join the rebellion before being drafted into the imperial starfleet.
Nope. Unless the original novel and the Biggs scene are EU, then you are correct. Biggs and Luke are talking and one of them (I forget which) mentions that it is not a good idea for Luke to wait around to be conscripted by the Empire.
Just checked it out, Biggs warns Luke that there is a good chance the Empire will come along and take his uncles farm, leaving Owen a mere tendant. And Luke tells Biggs that he will be joining the academy soon, and that he wont let the Empire draft him into the Imperial Starfleet. The OT, at least the first SW film, gives off plenty of hints that the Empire is oppressive and meddles in peoples lives, taking their property and good to advance the Empire, and taking their children to fight their battles.
The PT waters all this down, and suddenly stormtroopers are lousy clones that nobody cares about. Lame way to make the series seemingly less violent.

They weren't dressed in rags but they weren't dressed to look like idiots. Why not do it that way?
Who was dressed to look like an idiot? I admit Padme's Queen get-ups were a bit over the top (although IMHO not outrageously so), but seriously, who looked like an idiot? Even Jar Jar just had a vest and leather pants.
Vaderisnohayden just really hates the PT to such an extent, you'd be hard pressed to get him to agree that there is even the tiniest bit of good in them. Don't worry about it.
As for my comment on the ships in the OT not reflecting what we saw in the PT. I know we only saw the Empire and the Rebels in the OT for the most part, but here we have the Rebels who are using old junky ships, whatever they can get their hands on, and we see nothing from the PT whatsoever. Fine, let's just assume they didn't happen upon any Old Republic vessels or ships from Naboo. Now let's consider how we see lots of ships in the PT that are not and none of them are ships from the OT. Not a one (save for the Tantive IV, but why not see more ships like this? Why is this the first Corellian vessel we see in the whole PT? Kind of odd huh? Are we to assume that none of the junky old ships the Rebels get there hands on were around during the days of the PT? They must all be fairly new hunks of junk made within the last 20 years. Just retarded if you ask me.
