I smoke tobacco from a pipe from time to time, I remember getting buzzed when I first started, but I never do anymore. Bilbo, being a seasoned pipe smoker I am sure would not.

What is worse, many people took the smoke rings and Gandalf's magically created smoke ship as being psychedelically induced, since it wasn't explained in the movie as it was in the book.

As for the LOTR marathon. I'd never have had the patience to do anything like that. It is hard enough for me to sit through a single viewing of the theatrical version, let alone all three extendeds.

If I was seeing them for the first time that way, I'd be pretty awesome.

There was $2 theater in the town I lived in at the time Return of the King was in theaters. In the weeks before they were able to get a copy of The Return of the King, they ran The Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers. So just for fun, a couple of my buddies and I went and saw all three of them there over the course of three weekends.
