I do have the Director's Cut DVD, if you want to start on the ridiculously detailed sequences I'm sure you have in mind... ;-)

I personally love the Director's Cut edit, but really despise the poor quality of print that was transferred to DVD after Robert Wise's excellent tweaks. If there is some general cleaning-up, and a re-do of the added elements for High Definition DVD eventually, then I'd be delighted.
In the meantime, I'm very curious to see what's being intended for the 'Fan Edited' version....

So the movie and the extras will be on one disk? That's cool. Is there any issue about dedicating one DL disc to just the movie and a whole separate DL disc for the extras? It's not available yet, as has been said in FanFiltration's quote in the post right above yours.
I was asking where it might be available when it is available. But I will wait for the Sunday night posting after it's done.

So here is the deal. This will be a DVD9, and will have the Special Longer Version in widescreen format, promo stills, audio interviews from 1979, and advertising artwork. If anyone wants to make an anamorphic version after this is released (or any other kind of project) using this version as the source, that is 100% fine by me.

This is probably the version of the film I've seen the most, so im glad im finally going to be able to see it in better quality.
This project sounds wonderfull. I love all things Star Trek and the The Motion Picture is one of my favorites. I dont think I have ever had the pleasure of seeing the 'Special Longer' version.
