Star Wars-esque music

Author

For a couple of fanprojects I'm kicking around, I'm looking to locate some good 'Star Wars' music that isn't actually Star Wars music.

Any orchestral music you could reccommend with a vaguely 'Star Wars' feel would be awesome. I'm trying to avoid any recognizable film-scores.

Also, anything that could work as 'in-universe' music, like the Cantina Song, or Lapti Nek... something 'sci-fi pop.'

Thanks gang.

Some of Jerry Goldsmith's lesser known scores might be what you're looking for.

Capricorn One and Outland spring to mind. Outland also had a "in-universe" track for a nightclub sequence. The CD containing both soundtracks may be hard to come by these days though!

James Horner's score to Battle Beyond the Stars is also Star Wars-esque, but Roger Corman recycled it for a half dozen other movies!

Some Debussy pieces remind me of Star Wars music- for example, "Clouds" (Nuages) reminds me of the music when 3p0 and R2 are walking thru the desert on Tatooine.

John Williams is often compared to Wagner - so maybe some of his pieces would work.

You might want to check out Holst's "The Planets" suite as well (the "mars" piece was used as part of SW's temp track).

Thanks for the help gang. I'm looking into those.

Someone told me that a fan produced a whole 'soundtrack' for the Star Wars Legacy comic, and it's online, but I haven't been able to find it.

Has anyone heard of this?
