it's the phantom shuttle
What's that thing under the shuttle....is it a shuttle ghost???
Nice pic tho man.
it's the phantom shuttle
Rather than losing the eye robot altogether it might be cool to A) remove the speach and that laugh and replace it with a weird machine language like the probe droids and B) add a scanning laser which starts of as blue but see's red when has it's little run in with R2.
Interesting idea. How would it fit with R2 and 3PO's dialogue?

Threepio is a translator droid so he understands it just as he understands R2 and the Falcon.
R2 reacts to the light change (has the scan noticed his hidden cargo?).
It makes the scene more menacing and mysterious from the door side but remains in character from the droids side.
Remember we get enough evidence of the whole of the conversation from just Threepio or the scene as it currently stands wouldn't make any sense.
The thing that doesn't work is the comedy coming from the doorside of the conversation which removes alot of the sense of danger from the scene and is an obvious nod to similar scene in "The Wizard Of Oz".
I got ya. This is a great idea. Since the door droid or scanner droid is speaking Huttese in the original, 3PO replies in kind. If we change the Huttese to a probe droid like series of beeps and tones, should we keep 3PO lines the same or just swap them out for something in 'basic'?

I see your point, darn...I was hoping that the radio version would have the same dialogue in English, it does however have almost the same lines (said to Bib Fortuna, so an alternative performance from Daniels might be constructable). It might be easier to re-record the eye's lines, still in Huttese but in a menacing mechanical voice, minus the laugh (which is the most of putting bit in my view).
Why re-record or replace any audio? Just clip the laughter off the end of the eyestalk's line and be done with it. Scanner effect would be nice if it was kept short and sweet...doesn't need to happen during the whole dialogue, just at the beginning.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
If we do re-record the lines for the eye's lines, they still can be huttese (which isn't a problem since they are at Jabba's Palace) but should be very abrupt and matter-of-fact. Something like "Purpose" or "Intensions" or "What the f do you want". And more robotic and mechanical the better.

I actually quite like the idea of it being on during the whole duration (though it should rotate, I should have traced some impact lines on the droids but I thought the illustration was enough to get the idea across).
There could be some fun to be had by adding a scan hum (a bit like the one used in the beginning of Aliens) or a whoor-whoor noise like the one in AOTC when the scanning laser is protecting Padme with R2 in the room.
Sluggo I love the idea of making it more abrupt (I don't speak Huttese and I'm sure neither does most of the audience) it might be possible to filter the existing material some more to make it more mechanical (the good ole ring modulator perhaps?).
Or perhaps the eyestalk could scan a la Tron?
Digitizes 3PO and R2 and rematerializes them in the torture room?
Nah, that's just nutty. ;) Haha.
Has Robot Chicken done an eye droid sketch yet? With all those little roundels to choose from they could have done a Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In style joke wall.

Probably saving it for III
I could be off my rocker here, but I think there's a "door droid" in one of the new Clone Wars cartoons. That might be useful.
You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Yeah. I think they actually used it in a few episodes

Does it sound better?
There is one in the Jedi Outcast game which sounds roughly the same only fainter.
i know this sounds like a bizarre request, but could someone create an mp3 of the entire audio track of ROTJ? the avi i am using to make little edits is silent on my mac! i could use the mp3 to add sound again!:)

I'd recommend making the request into a new thread. Who knows? Some dor... um forum member might already have one.
ah, i dont want to trouble the forum that much. its random, on m pc the avi file works fine, but on the mac audio doesnt work. it does for most avis except for the higher res ones. CURSES!
i added saber sounds to enhance the fight and impact
WOW! that was intense! that would make it so much better.
considering that it is the final lightsaber battle in the whole saga, it needs to match the intensity of prior battles. if only ady could break into the lucas-vault of unused footage!
It could be much better. There are too many sounds, too loud, and I don't think they are all appropriately chosen.
Another thing that I have thought of recently, for ROTJ:
The Aurebesh glyphs originate from computer screens from ROTJ, but they did not have any meaning. West End Games mapped the aurebesh glyphs to latin letters, and their aurebesh system was used for the signs in the prequels and the changes in the DVD versions of the OT.
The problem is that the computer screen read-out in ROTJ did not mean anything. Interpreted by the WEG Aurebesh, it is gibberish.
I propose that the text will be changed into something meaningful.
Now that's a good idea.
I think Qui-Gon should be added to the end celebration in ROTJ alongside the other jedis there. He discovered skywalker and saw to it that he was trained, and he discovered how to return from the dead, so he should be allowed to stand there.
But Qui had no connection to Luke. Obi, Ani and Yoda were all people that Luke dealt with directly.
