I'd love to see a step by step on how he does some things, but I've studied his single Photoshop file from ANHR's Ronto removal and I still don't know how he did it!

Same. That thing never ceased to amaze me. Even more insane is the fact that he had to do that with moving clips. o_o I can't even imagine.

Those shots of the interior of the AT-ATs is just too cool that I shudder to think of anything in it changing at all (except maybe normalizing those decals on the back of the helmets).

You mean the red stripes down the center of the drivers helmets?  I think the jury is still out on whether those are a goof or supposed to indicate the interiors of two different AT-ATs.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I think the snow adds character, why remove it? It's not like machinery can't pick up snow... those walkers are tall and the wind is going to be blowing snow and flakes will accumulate as they move around.

I don't see any issues with the snow.  Being from a mountainous snowy area I can tell it gets everywhere via wind.

Its kind of like sand... it's irritating, it get's everywhere, though it's not rough... :P

There's actually someone -- on this forum, in fact -- who gets very bothered by sand . . . something having to do with Wookie outer extremities . . .

Take care,

Well, I've been away for quite awhile, and I see it's cost me dearly... 248 pages to wade through???  Frak me.

Ady, sorry to rehash this (I looked back a few pages and couldn't see where the debate began)... but which scene in ESB has the spinning starfield?  Is it at the end when the Falcon finally jumps into hyperspace?

For what my 2 cents are worth, I'm not sure what the inconsistency/problem is with the spinning starfield.  I always assumed the ships in SW spun when they entered hyperspace... that's why, when seeing a jump from a ship's point of view, the stars spin, and why when a ship's in hyperspace (e.g., ROTJ, ANH:R) we see that wormhole effect (caused, I thought, by the stars spinning by).

But... that being said, who's really going to miss it (aside from Jeyl, of course)?  If I read the posts correctly, you apparently removed a spin effect from ANH already?  If so, I didn't even notice, so... there ya go :)

The spin is only when the Falcon jumps away from the Star Destroyers over Tatooine and the Executor over Bespin.  Adywan points out that when Tydirium goes to light speed in RotJ it goes straight out and the fleet does not spin around it.  The spinning starfield is for dramatic effect in those two shots by Lucas' own admission.

In regards to the close-up AT-AT head shots:

I concur that the snow could be removed from the AT-AT headshots,

I think the snow adds character, why remove it? It's not like machinery can't pick up snow... those walkers are tall and the wind is going to be blowing snow and flakes will accumulate as they move around.

(1) would snow clump up on vertical parts of machinery (especially when you consider heat from the lower guns would melt it, and the movement of the AT-AT would shake it)?  Ice maybe (DEADLIEST CATCH anyone?), but snow?
(2) is there snow on other parts of the AT-AT?
(3) even more important: is there consistency between these close-up head shots and the other AT-AT scenes where you can see the head?  If snow is going to remain on the head shots above, then you have to add the snow in the other shots showing the head as well.  That, or remove the snow in the shots above.  Either way.

Can someone help me post a pic of this scene? At minute 23:28 of ESB, vader is addressed in his chamber via a video feed. Does anybody else think the black and white fuzz as the signal is coming in, and then the subsequent video feed after is a little cheesy and could be made to look a less 70's/80's tube TV? Thanks for your help in advance! Peace....

Thank you for that I ve just notice a transparecy issue in that scene. See Piet's arm..

Also I was wondering if Ady can do something subtle to enhance the monitor...

That looks fine, but I don't think that thing really looks 70 or 80s at all. The SW Universe has the prequels as the 40s and the OT as the 70s and 80s anyway, I think.

It could be enhanced, but the part that really bothers me is when the screen is first shown and there is all of that nasty old analog reception fuzz before you see the officers. Just seems very dated.....anyway, just an idea, and thanks for posting the pics vaderios! Peace...Oh and good spot on the transparency!

Well no idea what else can fit there exept from noise.

Maybe a better noise?

lol, 3rd one is funny :P im undecided with the blurs, but the noise is definitly better. the noise on the holograms is fair enough, but wouldnt monitors be better off with more PT style computer displays? the only occurance i can think of is in ROTS on the tantive IV with mas ademma.

could you have a stab at one of your lovely red computer screens?:) i could imagine that entead of the admiral fading through the noise, he is presented through a central wipe in a cleaner looking display perhaps?

Red Monitors? It wouldnt be bad if you consided the balance betwin the colors. Blue metal for walls orange-red for monitor. It might work.

Edit:

Nothing to fancy

I like the first example where u just added some light around the edges and the red line. I dont think the whole screen should change in color. and the better noise screen is good too! Maybe it could be replaced by something 'laser-ish' (like the screen in ANH:R when the rebels are looking at the death star plans)

Question for Ady: Will you be adding any diologue from the radio drama? I listened to it today and there were a few lines I liked that could fit in well. (ie: During the lightsaber duel when Darth Vader says to Luke that he's not a Jedi yet. Luke says "You ceased to be one a long time ago.") Since the camera angle is from behind Luke, he could say that as he's walking up the stairs. Theres quite a few little things like that I found to be interesting in the radio drama.

What's everyone elses take on this?

Once again forgive the rough edges and I don't really think it needs changing other than solving the transparency issue but you could just go for holograms of Ozzel and Piett and dispence with the screen altogether.

As for the other one "Asteroids do not concern me"  :-)

I thought about holograms but i thought is too far. Still I vote + if Ady decide to do them.

Also I know sometimes the sourse is the ESB HD. So a bigger screen that fills more space would be cool.

We like to see our movies in HD and in big plasma screens why not mr Vader?

The only good thing I can think of about going down the hologram route would be giving Vader the option to zoom in on Ozzel so he can see the breath squeeeeeezing out of him! (going on the I can't breath so why should you sadistic line of thinking) but personally I can't see it being a winner.

Funny junk....I actually like the red screen example....looks less cheesy, and a little more like something that would be in vaders chamber? Looks a little more Sith-ish, and less goofy! Maybe Ady has some ideas as far as what could go in that FUZZ section. Any updating would be greatly appreciated Adywan......Peace

And for ImpFighter:

Considering some sky replacement the beam can be more visible and defined.

I vote for blue :)

Just checked in to find you'd done the above shots recently vaderios.  Thanks for taking the time to have a go at that, but it wasn't quite what I had in mind at the time.

I'll describe things a little clearer in the post below.

vaderios, what I'd really like you to show sometime is a version of exactly the same kind of arcing 'electrical' effect on the 'dish weapon', as it 'powers-up', and also around the laserbolt itself, as was seen in your excellent ION Cannon mock-up.

Could you replace the existing orange 'powering-up' areas using one or both of the shots above, with a whitish blue colouring with a more vivid blue subtle 'electrical' arcing 'flicking around' the 'round dish' too, at this point.  The same kind of 'electrical' arcing effect would also be subtly seen around the actual laserbolt that heads towards  the AT-AT too, similar to your previous ION Cannon laserbolt.

Although this alone would be a neat mock-up to see, I'd certainly like to see the exact same shots done in these alternative colours too -   one in a greenish white effect with vivid yellow 'electrical' arcing (as implied by the top shot here)....and one in the existing whitish orange as seen above, but with an added 'electrical' arcing in a more vivid orange....and finally, one in a whitish yellow with more vivid yellow 'electrical' arcing.

Just a thought for fun, and no worries if not.
