Not really it makes more sense giving Endor a planet to be a moon of that way you can have an another interesting alien object in the sky and not need to change all those references to a forest or sentry moon in the dialogue.
I suggested some posts back a green ringed gas giant quite far away from the moon to contrast the big orange ringless one filling up the sky of Yavin IV in ANH.
