I suspected that this sort of thing would turn up in the prequels it was a bit of a surprise that it had not (not necessarily an actual romance between Padme and Obi-Wan but more Anakin becoming so paranoid about losing her that he would leap to that conclusion).

well perhaps we could put it in Anakin's dream and return the scene where Palp plants seeds of mistrust in Padme. Then Palp would be even more like an Iago character.
