This collection will not be released until it is completed, and only in a complete form.

That is good to hear,I was hoping you would say that.

Happy New Year everyone!

I was hoping to be finished by now but the work continues, and there isn't that much left to do.

On a personal note, I am expecting a new member of the family (my first) come June. So obvously between that and work, projects like this are secondary. But that bieng said, I'm very excited about this project, and shall release it soon.

That is very good news to hear, congratulations.

And so is the news that you are getting nearer to the end of your project.  It will be worth whatever the wait, I'm sure.

A Happy New Year to you also.

focuspuller,

Someday should you ever decide to chronicle how you put this amazing collection together I think it would make for a fascinating read for the fans of Vangelis' music and Blade Runner in particular.

As for the latest track expansion...woohoo! :)

Congrats FP.  It's the best project you've announced yet. :-D

I was working on a cheapie little edit to remove the lack of gaps (my phone doesn't do well with gapless playback) when ADM showed me this.  This completely and utterly blows mine out of the water! :-D

I am incredibly excited, and believe me, I'm waiting with baited breath.  Kudos!

I check here every few weeks to see how this project is coming along. I was happily surprised to see 3/4 discs done. Felicitations, sir! The Esper Edition has done well enough for me for 4-5 years now. I can't promise your set will replace it (it's got a "flow" I've become accustomed to), but I'm extremely excited to hear it! I think I'll keep both versions. I listened to a lot of the bootlegs, and they all have different vibes, which is great because there's different things I want when I listen to Blade Runner. Sometimes it's the atmosphere, sometimes it's the great jazzy sounds of Vangelis, or the great vocals. Othertimes it's just hearing the crackly audio track from the unicorn scene and what pre/proceeded that. Anyways, enough gabbing from me, see you in a few weeks!

Hi all, the work continues. I don't really have anything to report but I will soon.

Quick comment. If anyone has any questions or comments regarding this project please feel free to address them. I do ask however, respectfully, that you keep such talk within this thread. All the projects on this site should be applauded, and respected. I don't feel comfortable addressing questions about this project on someone else's thread, unless of course there was some direct connection. I wouldn't want to show any disrespect towards someone's project by having that happen. Thank you.

Cassius76, this means you. ;)

Q: Did you get hold of the elusive Emulator sample library to rebuild the bar scene music?

Are You refering to the "Taffy's" track?

On a similar note, while I have not put it on the list yet I will be including a track that uses the same sample library. It's not from Vangelis nor for Blade Runner. I have debated the notion of including this track, but I find it relevent for a few reasons. More on that later.

I am indeed refering to the Taffy track, I did look at your first page list of finished tracks and for some reasons - word blind it seems being one of them - I didnt see it there until now :)  looking forward to it!

Hello all,

I may be a new member to this forum but I'm just as hungry for a truly complete BR soundtrack as the rest of you. :)

focuspuller, I  sincerely applaud and congratulate the time and effort you're putting into this project, as it really, really means a lot to us.

I also have a question: did you somehow manage to get the extended music for your "Unicorn" cue from the BR DVD documentaries? 'Cause I've been DYING to hear that cue in its entirety, and it sucks that it's only available in mono format behind all the interview dialog on the DVD.

Keep up the great work!

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

"In it's entirety" is a tricky phrase to use with almost all of the music. The only person who can trully call a piece complete is Vangelis. But what should be very clear by now is the fact that ALL of the music from Blade Runner (both official and bootleg)  that has seen  the light of day by the general public have been released in an edited down form. The only track (other then "Memories of Green") that I assumed I had in a complete form was "Tales Of The Future". However, when comparing my sources I discovered (along with slightly different elements, etc) an extra verse. I almost missed it until it became more obvious after a few listens.

With this project, I am always aware of the fact that while new tracks (and there are a few) and new clips are mostly obvious to hear, some sound elements are not. An audio effect may not be as obvious as a visual one. A track could be changed as little as two or three seconds and be remixed entirely, but still be hard to be heard by someone who hasn't gone over the music as often as I have. Little by little, the few moments, seconds, and minutes add up, and what you are left with is a lot more music. So as I've said before, this collection will be as complete as is possible. If more elements or tracks find their way to me after this project is released, then the project will be updated.

Going back to your question about "Unicorn", only a few seconds of it here and there can be heard in the BR DVDs. And actually I haven't used any of that, only compared it with what I am using. As far as all my sources for that track I am required to be a little vague. But it is of course elements of that track, by vengelis.

It should also be noted that dealing with sound elements for "Unicorn" can get little murky. The track is used not only for Blade Runner but also in another Vangelis scored film, Antarctica (1983). What appears in that film is different but it's part of the same music, or a variation of it. My understanding is that the music was written for Antarctica. I have also been told that it is part of a composition that was written before both films. The former seems more correct.
