He's a bounty hunter - as soon as he's got his money, he's off to catch another bounty and get more. Why the hell would he be hanging out at Jabba's in the first place?

Boba digs the chicks?  I don't know.  I'd be against him falling into the Sarlaac, but maybe keeping the flirting wouldn't be so bad.

There IS the option of having him at Jabba's at first and then use some exterior of the palace with Fett's ship leaving in the background. That way he's gone from the sail barge fight...

Just in time to sell the Death Star/Emperor location to the Rebels?

That's an interesting idea, but I don't know how you'd get it across using existing footage.

A shot of Slave One heading off into space, A shot of Slave One heading towards the Rebel fleet, a shot of Fett hanging around in the background of the briefing out of sight of Han and the rest and no mention of the Bothan spies.

Leia : "I hope it's worth the price we paid"

vaderios I'm sure, could knock out some wonderful mock ups.

I guess what I was thinking was using the exterior shot of Jabba's palace with the burping frog thing. Get rid of the frog and grab a shot of Fett's ship from ESB and have it leaving the planet.  What do you think?

Bingowings was thinking more of what I was concerned about - how we would make it clear that Fett sold the information to the Rebels.

And that's not a half-bad idea, either.

This is a cool idea but without any of our heros having some sort of reaction to Fett (especially Han) being there I'm afraid it won't make much sense...

Yeah, if Han saw him, he'd attempt to punch him out or something.

How did Boba know where the Death Star was?

Maybe a quick allusion to the bothan spies buying the information from Boba could show up on the projector before the Death Star?  I'm against this mind you, just playing devil's advocate here.

I don't think it'll work with the footage we have to work with.  Better to remove Fett entirely.  (I'd settle for his removal from the sail barge sequence, with Slave I flying away during an exterior shot, but I'd really rather not see him in ROTJ at all)

How did Boba know where the Death Star was?

Vader told him or let him know is the obvious choice, he wants Palpatine and the Rebeliion wiped out and for Luke to be his apprentice, Palpatine knows all about this but the Death Star is fully functioning and caught between the Imperial fleet and the Death Star they will be wiped out, Luke be be his apprentice and Vader will be out of the way.

But does the audience really need to know?

Boba Fett is a bounty hunter and a tracker, the rebels can hire him just as much as anyone else.

You can stick the backstory in the new novelisation.

Nope, and that's probably the way it would've stayed if he hadn't developed a cult following that led them to stick him in ROTJ as a bit of fanservice. The Boba in ESB is the way he should've stayed; mysterious.

Forest Moon of Endor:

  1. Add Endor so that the Forest Moon is actually a moon of something.

Watched "Jedi" last night. It seemed to me that since the DS and the moon are always in sunlight, the planet the forest moon is orbiting can very likely just be on the other side of the forest moon. The forest moon is a really big planet (at least Earth size apparently) not a small moon. It's completely possible that in all the wideshots the gas giant Endor is simply behind the planet, or behind the camera.

It does seem a bit cheap to make such a potentially large object perpertually camera shy.

The EU explanation is that the main planet was lost somehow but wouldn't that make the moon a fully fledged planet now?

That could make a more menacing entrance for the DS II in ROTJ:

It could initially be in the dark, with Endor casting a shadow over it, so it is completely hidden. Darth Vaders shuttle would depart the executor, under the moon, seemingly heading into the dark nothing, until the shadow lifts from over the DSII as it orbits endor.

Maybe a big menacing music cue would be cool.

Once again another beautiful job, it makes me wonder why those things weren't built into the bigger capital ships if they could case that much disruption.

If Ackbar had one of those fitted to his ship he could have cleared a path through during the battle of Endor.

Actually Ion Cannons are placed here and there in capital ships. Even Y-Wings have them. You can hear the sound of them many times in ROTJ. Considering that the ships must balance Shields-Speed-Power, the stunt effect of ion cannons are considerably less powerfull that Hoth's one.

Perhaps I should copy this over to the ESB/ROTJ wishlist thread but it would be nice to see a milder version of this effect during the Endor battle.

I copied this over from the ESB:R thread as it's more a ROTJ:R (or similar edit) idea.

As Bingowings said: Some storyboard of the possibly Mr Boba's insert to Rebellion's fate.

First Shot: A ship is approaching fast a fleet (rebels) that is gathering/ or some ships whatever. It enters into a hangar.

Second Shot. We see it landing. Dark hangar. The door is open and some light fills the place. We see someone ( boba) walks down of the ship and meet some ppl.

Third shot. Behind of boba) to walk.

Fourth Shot: We see some rebels ( in the pic are random) They talk

Fifth shot: Mr B gives the plans to the rebels. A payment agreement.

Final Shot: Out of the hangar camera. We see B's ship take off and Fly to the camera.

it should be on the DVD extras at least anyway! i guess the good thing about fett is that he is just an outfit, so if anyone happens to have a fett costume and a blue sheet of fabric...

The only problem with that is that the Jango costume is radically different from Boba's ESB or ROTJ costumes (which, themselves, have more than a few differences).
