i like it, would be nice to see some clips though.
could the flasnback-present transitions blend in and out of this affect?

The shot with Yoda looks great!
So...would this be like a real picture book, with individual pictures and either text or narration (that would be great!), or would it be the full movie with the filters applied throughout? (that could be...not so great.)

That would be a great idea for a complete re-interpretation edit of Star Wars. Just music and narration with individual drawing looking pictures! The editor could change the story has he wants to.
But I still want to see this effect in movement, this will add something even more special to this edit. Nice idea.
Yes, it will be in motion. (Sorry Ripplin.)
But personally, i liked the effect; so I'm hoping there is a niche audience for this kind of style... If not; you'll have the Standard version to choose. So it's all good.
Oh, and I was able to salvage my footage from the Adobe monster; so I do NOT have to start over. Disc One is more or less complete.
could you upload some short clips?:)
I'll see about doing that today if time permits.

Oh, I'm sure I'd enjoy both. I just wonder if applying filters to a whole movie like that could be...too much? Know what I mean?
Would be fun as an alternate version. Would it basically be the regular one with filters applied, or do you plan on dong something different with it, story or time-wise?
No it will be the same edit so to speak; but it's not quite as simple as applying one affect. (Wish it were though.) I'm finding that I'm having to adjust per scene quite a bit. But again, I got that hard part of the "recipe" done, so it's just tweaks here and there.
Here is a downloadable clip http://digital-fanedits.com/index.php/component/option,com_jdownloads/Itemid,80/catid,4/task,viewcategory/
Just look for Storybook test.
You need to register to enter :-/
Could you upload it somewhere else?
EDIT:
never mind, the clip on the forum works: http://digital-fanedits.com/index.php/Forum/Star-Wars/56-Star-Wars-Redemption-Trilogy/Page-3.html
looks awesome! would be a neat way fof hiding the quality differences of the OT/PT

That was actually my original reason for trying it... Because if it ALL looks animated then there is no problem.
PROGRESS REPORT:
I AM DONE WITH DISC ONE, and I'm prepping Disc two. Then I'll finish up work on the Storybook editions... But this is it for the editing aspect. It's done, and this is what it will be.
I'll let you guys know when it's available.
Saw the clip and it looks great, cant wait.
The person your searching for simply does not exist
Holy friggin' crap.
So, yeah; I get home to watch my finalized disc one only to find out it doesn't end where it should... It just cuts off.
Anyone know how to fix this? Is this common? I made the DVD in DVD Architect.
^Very weird. Hope there is an easy solution. :S
No worries... I was able to fix it... So I'm back in business. I hope to complete disc two today. Mind you this is the Standard cut of the films. The Storybook cut will come later.
Ok... DRUM ROLL..........DONE!
Disc one and two is complete.... Now, I need uploading advice... I don't mind torrenting this, but I don't know how to upload... But if anyone can help, or has a better idea; I'm all ears....Er...Eyes.
In the meantime, I'm running full steam ahead on the Storybook cut.
any chance of a decent preview at all?
this sound very interesting can you upload a 5 minute good quality clip possibly with audio
just to see what its like cheers
Homo sapiens, the first truly free species, is about to decommission natural selection, the force that made us.... Soon we must look deep within ourselves and decide what we wish to become.
Hey, mister! ;)
Any word on this neat-o project? I've been mentioning it for the past couple of days; thinking of it to myself and talking to others. Last thing you said was that discs one and two were done? What's the status now? (as well as the status of the storybook version)
Thanks.
Alrighty. I guess I'll resurrect this topic to explain myself. I've said this (sorta) in another thread, but it belongs here.....So, here it goes.....
I did finish Episode 1 of Redemption........ In fact, 6 different versions of Redemption only to find that I'm not satisfied. I refuse to release something if I can't stand to watch it.
I just couldn't come up with a watchable version. And in light of the recent redlettermedia review of AOTC, it actually makes it worse, because he really illuminated even more glaringly awful issues that I wonder if "redemption" is possible.
I say that to say this. I'm challenging someone on here to give me a good strong reason and road map to make this edit work. I'm looking for ideas.
So, please give me a reason to continue. Let's talk it out, and maybe I'll take this baby back under the knife if inspiration hits me again.
As I said earlier if you are happy with it in a technical sense but still want to go further why not release a work in progress version and then take in ideas based on what can already be seen.
It's very difficult to comment on something that only you can see so my recommendation is put what you have done out there but label it as a work in progress and sift through the suggestions that interest you and see which ones you can actually achieve.
But don't give up because of one review.
Maybe making these films good is too big a job for yourself alone and it may take team effort to really get anything like the prequels you want to see.
If that's the case your best may inspire those who come after you in the same way that other efforts may have inspired you.
Yeah, maybe a low quality .avi for the people who have been following this thread to evaluate? Maybe put on Megaupload? Just a thought.
I'll see what I can do with that. Actually working on a 7th draft and already hate it... But I may be willing to show the last draft. Even with the technical mistakes that I intended to fix it was still the closest to being what I would have released. Might be tomorrow or next week as I the DVD of that cut is not in arms reach.
In the meantime, here is a question... Most everyone knows the general idea. It's a return to a trilogy with prequel footage serving as flashback material.
Think about A New Hope right now and give me your opinion... At what points in ANH do you believe the flashbacks should occur and WHAT scenes would you use?
