I'd have to disagree with ChainsawAsh on many points. I think that most fan-fiction and EU either takes itself too seriously or is too "fan-serving". The movies are a balance of action, drama and comedy that would need to be achieved. I believe 3P0 and R2 need to play a prominent role in every movie. Chewie not so much. I also think a good core 70% of Lucas's basic prequel story was correct and I wouldn't dream of changing it. I don't think the Jedi should be little known and detached from society in the beginning. They should be rendered that way by the rapidly changing republic under the control of Palpatine who eventually positions the Jedi as "out of touch" and threatening the Republic's unity. more on that later
